Hi,

I'm using Windows 10 and seti@home. I run on a server that never goes to sleep. Only shut off the monitor after 30 minutes. It shows the seti@home project screen saver and shuts off the monitor after 30 minutes. Next time it wakes up and goes to screen saver it then goes to "Bionic is loading screen saver...." for ever never loading seti@home again and also never shutting off the monitor ever. This will continue until I change the screen saver to anything else then back to Bionic where it repeats the same sequence....

Thanks!
Micro

I have a similar issue with a windows 10 pc. I have another pc that serves as a print server and it runs seti@home version 8. The screen saver works fine on my print server pc and any chances I made to the BOINC manager affect it, but my windows 10 pc just flashes a BOINC logo once and that's all.

The BOINC and Seti screen savers are written in OpenGL, and for this to work correctly you need drivers installed that have that component installed. Drivers from the GPU manufacturer, not drivers installed by Windows, because these will generally lack things as full OpenCL, OpenGL, CUDA, because they're not necessary for the running of Windows.

So, while you can blame the not running or badly running of the screen saver on BOINC, it's actually the operating system in combination with the drivers you need to look at.

Seeing how both of you run Windows 10 Pro, you should really find out how to tell Windows Update to stop auto-installing new drivers whenever it finds it needs to, and that you install drivers from the GPU's manufacturer site.

For ATI/AMD that is at http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
For Intel that is at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
For Nvidia that is at http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
