Hello, I was just wondering in general if other people noticed that their fans are working harder than usual after the upgrade to v8? My fans are somewhat louder and RPMs are maybe 30% higher. Sometimes brief spikes to 90% higher. Could be possible, but I don't think I'm having any hardware/software issues, haven't changed Boinc preferences. I have an i5-3570k and GTX 650 Ti Boost. Does v8 use more power?

Someone mention that they increased the sensitivity of the applications for v8.

So that means they run slower and are more labor intense, so more work means more heat.

Always good to have some sort of program to monitor the heat of your cards.

I like to use SIV64X but you can use which ever program you like.

I use CPUID Hardware Monitor and one that came with the mobo manufacturer, was how i got the RPMs. I don't watch the core voltages so don't know about the electricity being used. Temps are fairly constant since they have a limit set on them.

Sometime in the fall, I did move my 1 200mm case fan from "out" top to "in" front with a section of ultra sheer pantyhose on the intake vent to reduce dust. It seems slightly worse at removing hot air, but the fans definitely are working harder during tasks than maybe a month ago.

If v8 is more intensive, then that probably explains it. I'll just probably limit myself to 2-3 out of 4 threads and the GPU. Hopefully it will be OK in the summer. Maybe I should have a 2nd fan on top in the summer.
