Wow. I am truly amazed by that performance. My general impression of metal is that it's all screaming and distortion. In this case, I was better able to understand the words than in the original S&G recording. It's still not quite my thing, musically, but I think I can say I like it.

I was also raised on S&G and didn't start listening to rock until 1983, then metal wshortly thereafter.

My own former favorite (progressive?) ,etal band covered Scarborough Fair long ago.

It's good, but could be better, knowing somewhat his voice.

Sounds like what I do when I perform "Hurt". Somewhat like Johnny Cash (the coverer) on the first verse/chorus then a bit like NIN on the remainder. (For those who do not know, hear my words, I'll teach you: Cash did NOT write "Hurt". He still kicked butt, though.)

Well I'm pleasantly surprised that many of you took the time to listen to a metal band, and even more pleased that you all seemed to enjoy it.

@ David S. - Yeah, I'm not really into the screaming metal, though I suppose that depends on your definition of screaming. I prefer metal bands that can actually sing, as to me, that is what music is all about. Bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, AC/DC, Avenged Sevenfold, etc. are good examples. The screaming metal, a.k.a. Death Metal, is not something I really get into. I'm really glad you liked it though, even if metal isn't your cup of tea.


@ Carlos - I'm glad someone mentioned and noticed the passion and the visuals. Very powerful and very important to the point of the song, I think.


@ Rob - well I hope in your case "something" means good. I'll assume from the smiley that it is indeed the case for you.

Scarborough Fair is a song, the proper name of the song better know by its repeated words parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. The performers Sarge linked to are Queensryche, which I've heard of but never been interested in or listened to before this moment. I'm less impressed with this than with the other one. (But SF was never one of my favorite S&G songs anyway.)

(I must see if I can find a higher sample rate rip of the Disturbed's version so I can more fully enjoy it - the little PC speakers just don't do the subtleties that are hinted at justice)

I agree about the speakers. I do most of my listening with Sennheiser headphones. I also downloaded and made a audio MP3 of the video from Youtube so I can watch and listen to it offline.
