43 cases in a population of 100k after 18 months. That is not just a virtual but actual catastrophy. $5 million is not enough to fix the prollem; it is a good start though. I'm offended; I expect greater dereliction of duty from the white privelegers that I elect. I'm seriously offended that there are SO many non-white people implicated in this whole Rick Snyder imbroglio. |

So reminds me of the next town over. Their water isn't full of lead, but other stuff. For years and years they obtained their water from the Raymond Basin underground aquifer and ran it through their local treatment plant to kill the nasty bacteria all done to every water quality standard. Last year due to the drought one of their wells sucked air! The water table had fallen to the point they ran out of this local sweet water. They were forced to use water imported from the Colorado River. They didn't even have to lay any pipe, the huge "feeder" already ran through their town as it supplies the berg I'm in just past their border, along with many other cities. The water in that "feeder" meets every water quality standard and has been treated to kill the nasty bacteria. So what is their issue? The issue is their local treatment plant uses one set of chemicals to treat the water. The water from the "feeder" uses a different set of chemicals to treat the water. It isn't some interaction from mixing either. The issue is the pipes have built up a coating from all the many years of having the local treatment chemicals run through them. The other treatment chemicals are dissolving that coating and getting rust in the water. It just looks nasty, but is safe to drink. Could you foresee this? Perhaps. But would you even think to ask the question? Both sources are totally in compliance with all water quality standards. Why would you think switching from one to the other would create any issue? Locally here, they have no choice due to the drought. But a choice made 100 years ago on the material used for the pipe is now causing a problem. Who to hang? The long dead water engineer who used the pipe that was available to him? The current water engineer who has no other source of water? The voters who won't approve a bond issue to replace every inch of pipe? http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/general-news/20151227/how-sierra-madres-water-issues-went-from-bad-to-worse-due-to-the-drought As to lead, it was a very common material in drinking water supply systems for many years. As the USA fails to plan for replacing infrastructure it gets left until it breaks beyond repair. Most of you remember the switch to unleaded gasoline. It was that time frame when the true danger of lead became well known. But has every pipe and valve in the USA been replaced since then? http://www.nbclosangeles.com/investigations/children-could-be-drinking-tainted-water-nbc4-investigation-exposed-292465681.html |

The poor people of Flint. What is astounding is how long it took for anything to be done once the it was apparent that the water was poisoned. Flint water crisis: 6 things to know about the toxic taps "Residents say they were kept in the dark for 18 months, assured their water was safe, until a local physician started noticing signs of lead poisoning in some of her patients." So who is to blame? "Lawyers have filed three class-action suits so far on behalf of Flint residents, alleging that state officials made multiple false assurances to claim the water was safe." So why is this considered a racist issue? How a Racist System Has Poisoned the Water in Flint, Mich. "Flint’s citizens, 52 percent African American, have been deprived of the right to govern their city since 2011. Michigan's Emergency Financial Manager law allows the governor to appoint an unelected official to control a city determined to be in fiscal crisis. Emergency Financial Managers have been primarily assigned to majority-African-American cities across Michigan. In the past decade, over half of African Americans in Michigan—compared with only 2 percent of whites—have lived under emergency management. EFMs are supposed to take over cities based on a neutral evaluation of financial circumstances—but majority-white municipalities with similar money problems have not been taken over. Flint’s poisoning is one effect of the systematic stripping of black civil rights in Michigan." So as the mayor was not in charge I really don't understand Clyde's point. You've filled in a piece of the puzzle regarding MI EFM. (For 7 years, I lived about 2 hours from Flint.) Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

Insert sound of scream here. Is 43 identified blood borne lead poisoned minorities in a city of 100k that passed Environmental Quality Review Board for that number of populace - oblivious to the fact that the actual use of water delivery infrastructure demanded enhanced vigilance. I say that entire departments of individuals, i.e., 100's of people in each, should be thrown to the curb, each and every one of their family members should PAY - regardless of negro origin (if that be such) - because SOMEBODY should fall onto their sword. There should be NO investigation into the Negro; they are just victims; they can't run their own water treatment plant / city is evidence just how anti-negro the system is rigged. |

Well, well well, Federal EPA person resigns over Flint. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-michigan-water-epa-idUSKCN0UZ31K Susan Hedman, the second official to resign since the crisis unfolded, had played down a memo by an EPA employee that said tests had shown high levels of lead in the city's water, telling Flint and Michigan administrators it was only a draft report. So it is an Obama official that was involved in a cover up. Now we know why the screams for a republican governor's head. Obama was playing with Flint's water. Always wondered if those required test reports were being done, seems they were, being reported up the chain and then buried. Not even reports that they could say lab error either! Real reports showing real problem. Federally buried! Can you imagine that? Obama's DemocRATS playing with people's lives to attempt to get an ouster of a republican governor? Yep, looks like it. |

Oh dear, well I've just profiled "Professor Ray" and I'm sad to say that it doesn't look anywhere near a positive result. :-0 Cheers. |

I'm a bit late on this story but if you do have a high lead level then you need to change your food intake to a high calcium diet . if the report is correct that 43 people have a lead count of 5 or above to adults it's not bad it needs to be upward of 12 before you start to see the effects . 45 is 15 above what I was allowed to have before I would have lost my job it was 24 at the time I quit and I still have the effects even 15 years after .So for your officials to say they don't know what the effects are is total B/S The long term effects are well known and it sounds like your health officials need to look to Australia to get there fact correct on the effects of high blood lead and time of exposure . Most pure lead other wise called 396 witch is 99.999% pure lead comes from Port Pirie Australia. If the children have had a exposure for 18 months or more then they will have lasting effects on them kids , the most noticeable effect will be a lower IQ and depending on how high it was shakes and emotional outburst , cry for no reason , anger meaning they will probably get into a lot of fights . If the exposure is long enough it will get into there bones and it will never be able to be removed so the effects will be with them for the rest of there life. I hope they send the state bankrupt for not doing something a long time ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Pirie Your officials can start here . It's the site of the biggest lead smelter in the southern hemisphere and has been there since 1880 |
