I threw out 5 unshelled walnuts into the backyard this morning, and no squirrels have come up to take one. I'm surprised. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Try unsalted peanuts. My squirrels LOVE unsalted peanuts in the shell. Well, I wouldn't think they'd be so picky in the hard times of winter. I have lots of walnuts and wanted to share. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Our back yard blue jays prefer peanuts in the shell over shelled. They will struggle to get the peanuts in the shell out of a wire ring holder we use, and not go for the shelled peanuts in the nearby tray until the ring is empty. (Not my photo, but that is the kind of ring holder we have.) |

How nice, our former overlords are now working for peanuts. ;) The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

(Not my photo, but that is the kind of ring holder we have.) My jays prefer peanuts in the shell too, probably because they are better for cached storage. Little do the jays know that the crows watch where they stash the peanuts, and then go raid the stashes!!! I think the crows watch the squirrels cache peanuts too. Crows are crazy smart! |

Now if only I can fix two video cards, the brackets that might do the trick are out of reach for the moment, since the seller messed up I'm told, the seller is getting an email about the mismatched email addresses, until the seller uses only one email addy on both ebay and paypal, the seller won't be selling anything to anybody, the conflicting email error code is 70245. Yeah I talked to ebay. My current card is warmer than it should be... And I'm tired, but warm. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

There are a few crows out here, but only a few. Getting supplies takes time and money Chris S, I have lots of time, I just lack enough money to get stuff done quickly, so I just have to be persistent and patient. But then Rome wasn't built in a day. Good night. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Try unsalted peanuts. My squirrels LOVE unsalted peanuts in the shell. I used to put raw peanuts out. The birds and squirrels loved them. (So did my dogs!) ~Sue~ |

Try unsalted peanuts. My squirrels LOVE unsalted peanuts in the shell. My Brother, Nephew and I shared a pair of dogs between us and yet Me tell you, they loved French Fries, sad to say one dog out lived My Brother by 2 months and the other went a few years later. These days I'm a cat person. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Try unsalted peanuts. My squirrels LOVE unsalted peanuts in the shell. French Fries are not good for dogs. Too fattening, too much oil, and too much salt (if they're salted, which most are). ~Sue~ |

Perhaps it was when the dish was served in old newspapers. It's said that 'connoisseurs' could tell the difference between the newspapers used:) |

Perhaps it was when the dish was served in old newspapers. Oh, that brings up memories. Ferry's Fish Bar in Dunoon, Scotland, 1980-81. 1 large piece of fresh-caught, batter-fried fish, plus chips (French fries) in a wax paper boat, wrapped in newspaper - 80 pence (about $1 at the time). Coarse-ground salt and malt vinegar in bottles on the shelf along the wall. And a pub down the block that let you bring food in, and played nothing but 1930s & 1940s Big-Band Jazz on the juke box. Spent a lot of my off-time (and money) there during refit/maintenance periods between FBM patrols. And I seem to remember a non-descript brown cat that spent a lot of time curled up by the fireplace..... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

@ Grant. My best dog Beefa was 11years old when she suddenly became paralised in the back legs. My best friend, a veterinarian, told me she was too old and arthritic to be treated and I should have her put down. Being a Buddhist with no desire whatsoever to kill any sentient being I was in a huge moral dilemma. But in the end I could not let her suffer any more and took her to the vet to be killed. I couldn't stay and watch. I cried all the way home.I am a big tough man and never cry. |
