Before I walk away from Boinc for the second time (I was an original Seti site participant before they went to Boinc and found Boinc created a ton of computer issues so stopped participating 12-13 years ago before trying it again in 2013), I'm hoping someone can help. I only run Seti on Boinc and every time it starts, my "Display Driver Fails and Recovers". I've had it in for service twice, they found nothing wrong but did total system removals and reloads anyway. Both times it did nothing to alleviate the issue and it only got worse each time and eventually froze my computer. The issue only happens when Boinc starts up....and I've removed and reloaded it numerous times.....no other software I'm running gets the display driver failure notice. My credit output (and successful unit completions) have declined sharply since this started almost a year ago as well. Where the repair shops say nothing is wrong, I'm throwing this issue out as a last resort here before I walk away from Boinc for good.

A few simple things, first it looks as if BOINC is recognising both your CPU and your GPU, but I can't see any tasks having been run on the GPU, so my wild guess (I'm not an AMD GPU user) would be that you've got the wrong display drivers installed - I know there has been a lot of discussion in the Number Crunching forum about the various AMD/ATI display driver combinations that work/don't work, if nobody comes along here to help it may be worth having a look there.

One way to solve it is not to use the stock applications, but use the optimized Lunatics applications (from installer 0.43b) instead.

While the stock applications are built by the same people, these applications have to cater for various GPU classes, which can give problems. With the optimized ones you can state one application specifically built for your GPU class.

Thanks, I'll look into this. Interesting the date of the Installer 0.43b launch (November 2014) seems to correspond to when all my issues started. Everything was fine until around that time.

Thus far the only work you've had was from stock applications, so release date of the Lunatics 0.43b installer is a coincidence here.

The applications from the installer are installed through the anonymous platform, a method through which you tell BOINC which applications to use, instead of the project sending you their applications. After installing the applications with this installer, it's also you who each time has to update the applications to newer versions, instead of that it'll happen automatically, as soon as the project releases new versions of apps.

You can see that someone is using these applications by viewing their task list, which will show all applications as "Anonymous platform".
