YouTube video of Yuri Milner, Founder of Breakthrough Initiatives, and Frank Drake being interviewed at a Vanity Fair conference. About 37 minutes long. No really new info for most people here, though, I imagine. But might be worth the watch and relevant to our interests. Host is also a little annoying with interjections and jokes. I thought it would've been nice if they had commented more on their thoughts about the Fermi Paradox, or talked a little more about the hardware and also the distributed computing, SETI at home etc.

Interesting video. I question the statements that there are 50,000 habitable planets in the galaxy and that our radars are visible at 1000 light years. I also question the wisdom of the expense of broadening the frequency spectrum.

We should look at likely light frequencies and microwave frequencies. I think that these are a vey few. I would rather see this money being spent on equipping all of the telescopes and arrays with a processor that would examine the reception as it was being received--shunting off only the most promising ones to a super-computer and discarding the rest. Right now significant processing power can be had for $1000 or less --(look at today's graphics processors in video game boxes).

Attempting to unite all SETI efforts would be the best chance of success in my opinion.
