I have the program set to display the work constantly. It almost seems frozen, with the same May 2 observation and the stats saying 100.0000% complete on the upper left. Only the graph on the bottom changes. However, when my screensaver kicks in, there is a different observation each time, and the whole screen changes fast, including the upper left stats. What are these two? |

You should almost certainly be using "Advanced View" rather than "Simple View" and you should never use the BOINC screensaver if you have the option -- it just takes CPU cycles away from the crunching. |

You should almost certainly be using "Advanced View" rather than "Simple View" Why? You can probably give a splendid reason as to why people should be using advanced view over simple view, if you're going to be giving advice like that. What is wrong with simple view? Shouldn't the developers then just do away with it, if it's so unnecessary? Do you have any idea why there are the simple and advanced views? and you should never use the BOINC screensaver if you have the option -- it just takes CPU cycles away from the crunching. Is that what he was asking? Why is it so difficult for people to answer questions being asked? Why must there always be unnecessary advice being given, solely based on own opinions and totally not trying to answer the question(s) asked? Ever thought that there are people who like to run the screen saver? And who then just want their question answered, instead of given nonsensical advice? @Tom, the screen saver switches between running tasks. You have a quad core CPU on which you run one task per core, meaning that you run four tasks and thus you see four different Seti screen savers that BOINC switches between. You also run Astropulse on your Nvidia card, but these come without a screen saver. So these may show the default BOINC screen saver instead. You can change how the BOINC screen saver reacts by going to Options in the Screen Saver control panel. See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/BOINC_screensaver#Screensaver_Settings for the different switches you can use. |
