My Seti tasks are not running properly.
I get consistently get this error message:
SETI error message: Status: Postponed: Cuda device initialisation failed.
I have aborted and requested new data a number of times and need some direction to fix this issue.
My Einstein at Home continues to run ok.
Thanks.

Aborting your datasets will not help cure the problem!
First, what Nvidia graphics card do you have installed?
Second have you allowed Microsoft to update your drivers?
Third, before going any further turn off automatic driver updates as they cause more problems than they are worth.

I know aborting my datasets will not fix the problem.
The graphics card is Nvidia NVS 5400.
It is usually normal to allow updates to the Microsoft operating system.
I can turn off the updates.
Why does my Einstein @ Home continue operate normally and the Seti doesn't?
Thanks for the help.

Operating system updates yes, but drivers, generally no, this is because all too often MS are more focused on the "domestic" market than the computational market, and more often than not their build of the latest driver has the computational side reduced to the point where it will not run everything its Nvidia supplied parent does.

I can't say why Einstein will run, but I do know that SETI pushes cards to their limits.
