G'morning everyone.

I'm just waiting now for that Antarctic vortex to hit here and it'll be a race to see if it or Beer O'clock comes 1st.

Time now for another coffee seeing as Beer O'clock is still 6.5hrs away.

Cheers.

Hmmmmm Trying out a new Polish beer from the corner shop. Its from Zywiec and called EB at 5.2%. It says on the can "Imported by Amtec Intl, Brooklyn, NY" with Surgeon General warnings. So what's that doing in the UK?

Maybe the person dispatching it had a few to many?

Cheers.

Actually, Gordon, you can switch your internet and keep your telephone on POTS. (Plain Old Telephone Service.) That will satisfy your home alarm needs of a copper line. The alarm is tied to the phone line; NOT the internet.

Just make sure that if/when you make the switch that you INSIST that your phone remain as it is; a regular land line phone. Although, their advertising package probably states "Digital phone", or "VoIP phone" and "High Speed Internet"; you still have the choice to keep your phone as POTS. (With AT&T, anyway.) If you ever do switch your phone to VoIP service, I HIGHLY recommend Vonage over AT&T Voice, Comcast Voice, or any other VoIP service. Vonage gives you MANY features that the other companies DON'T deliver on... Plus, Vonage World, (the package I'm on), includes international calling to 60+ countries.

Okey doke, I'm back. :~)

Well, you are probably technically correct that I can keep POTS for my land line while getting fiber for internet, but I doubt they'd give me any discounts for doing that. They(AT&T in my case) want to get rid of copper, and I'd be defeating their purpose.

That would be very likely Gordon. ;-)

Anyhow I'm thinking about a power nap after several mates dropped in for Beer O'clock here.

Cheers.

I hope your sleep is good. I've always heard alcohol hurts sleeping, but I beg to differ. ;~)

It was a good little 30min nap Gordon and I sleep very well 95% of the time. ;-)

I've also been up since 3.30am today (I really should learn how to sleep in), and it's now 4.30pm plus the 2nd Ashes test starts tonight (though I doubt if I'll see the whole day's play) so I've already had a long day.

Cheers.

G'morning everyone, from a very white day in the highlands down under.

Beer O'clock has been officially cancelled here today. :-(

With all this white stuff falling from the sky, Rum O'clock will be a go in 1hr. :-D

Cheers.

Do we need to send the St Bernards with the kegs around their necks?

Don't panic!

It's called snow, it does not eat meat but
can freeze it. Just walk softly around the,
stuff and carry a big shovel!

Thanks for the thought though DG, I've got plenty of supplies here. ;-)

I spent many so called "winter holidays/long weekends" in it way down south in my much younger years Celt (though I was earning $'s), but it does surprises me how some people just go nut's in it.

Cheers.

If you are freezing, the worst thing you can do is to drink alcohol. It will will widen your arteries and you will lose even more body heat. Many mountaineers have made this mistake and died.
