I got the following notification today:

SETI@home: Notice from server
SETI@home v7 needs 15.31MB more disk space. You currently have 16.69 MB available and it needs 32.00 MB.

I looked in BOINC on the "Properties" button, it currently says SETI is using 25MB of space, but I couldn't find any setting where you can control the amount of disk space it can use, so I thought it must be project specific on the web.

So, I went to the "Preferences" button to open the web page for SETI.
I currently have the following under the "Disk" section:

Use no more than 10 GB
Leave at least 1 GB free
Use no more than 50% of total

So, I'm allowing 10 GIGAbytes, it's only using 25 MEGAbytes but saying it needs 32 more MEGAbytes.

What is going on? How to I give it what it wants?

Oh, BTW, I checked my hard drive, and I currently have 130 GB free on a 250 GB hard drive, so that's it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you please post the BOINC start up messages (CTRL+SHIFT+E to open the Event Log, scroll all the way up, click first line normally saying cc_config.xml not found - using defaults, or Starting BOINC client version 7.4.42 for windows_x86_64; hold SHIFT and then click on the line Not using a proxy; click the "Copy selected" button to copy all selected lines and paste (CTRL+V or right-click->paste) them in an answer window here).

That will give us a lot of information to be able to help you out.

16-Jul-2015 14:40:13 [---] Reading preferences override file
16-Jul-2015 14:40:13 [---] Preferences:

16-Jul-2015 14:40:13 [---] max disk usage: 1.00GB

All right, the above excerpt from your start up log shows that you are using local preferences which override the web preferences, and that you set there to use a maximum of 1GB for BOINC to use as disk space.

You'll have to check what the other settings for disk space are here.
Open BOINC Manager -> (Tools, Advanced view) -> Tools, Computing preferences... -> Disk and memory usage

Use at most X Gigabytes disk space: Sets the maximum disk space BOINC is allowed to use.
Leave at least X Gigabytes disk space free: Minimum space BOINC should leave free on the disk or partition.
Use at most X % of total disk space: Sets the maximum amount of total space that BOINC is allowed to use.

The first we know, you set this to 1GB, but what of the rest of them?

If you do not want to use the local preferences, but the web preferences instead, make sure you clear the local preferences.

Thanks for your help Ageless.
I don't remember ever changing local prefs (I know I set up prefs online for the projects).
But I have set the local app prefs to be unrestricted, and I am no longer getting that notification in the log, and everything seems to be using the proper allocations set on the web and running properly.
Much appreciated.
