Got this in my event log just now, but no other information, there is nothing specific in the "notices tab': 06/30/2015 17:45:25 | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. 06/30/2015 17:45:25 | SETI@home | Reporting 3 completed tasks 06/30/2015 17:45:25 | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 13 new tasks 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Message from server: Unknown app name in app_info.xml 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Message from server: Unknown app name in app_info.xml 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Message from server: Unknown app name in app_info.xml 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Message from server: Unknown app name in app_info.xml 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Message from server: Unknown app name in app_info.xml 06/30/2015 17:45:27 | SETI@home | Message from server: Unknown app name in app_info.xml BOINC 7.6.3 & Lunatics 0.43a are installed on a Win7 x64. The data directory resides on a different physical drive than the system drive. this is the first time that I've gotten this message. Completely exited BOINC and restarted it and the message did not appear. After being starved of AP tasks for so long and finally having a queue of 37, I'd hate to lose them. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Cliff look over on the panic thread. Just referring to out dated apps that they finally removed from the server. You probably like me, still have them in your app_info.xml No harm will come from leaving them in there |

You probably like me, still have them in your app_info.xml No harm will come from leaving them in there Thanks Zalster, had hoped that might be it, now if "those that be" would only sort the application details so that the current apps are at the top of the list instead of the bottom will be a great improvement. But, I know that is probably at the bottom of their list. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/host_app_versions.php?hostid=5501972 I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Guess it's the AP v6 apps, after removing the entries from app_onfo I'm not getting the error message. |

Same here, removed the block featuring the AP6 apps and no more notices. "Life is just nature's way of keeping meat fresh." - The Doctor |

I also had the unknown app message today. Three occasions, each corresponding to a single AP work unit download. I have kept the AP v6 application available to help clear any remaining v6 work unit re-issues. The AP v6 is no longer mentioned in the Applications list so I assume all those stragglers have cleared out. I'll remove the v6 references in app_info.xml and expect no more Notices or Event Log messages. In the "wish list" category it would have been nice if the "unknown app name" had just said which app was "unkown." Glad to see the AP work flowing again. Keeping fingers crossed that it will continue. I'm slightly anxious about the AP v7 nvidia application, and its matching *.cl file, that I installed months ago but have not had any work units to process until now. It will take a day or two for the AP work to bubble to the top of the buffer and then I'll find out if I got everything configured right. < E.T., please call... > [EDIT:] Wish fullfilled! On restarting Boinc, to re-read the app_info.xml, the Event Log and Notices identifies the missing app. |

You could always just suspend all the work units before the AP to allow it to be crunched next in the cache and after it starts to crunch, unsuspend all the previously suspended work... Just to give yourself piece of mind that it actually is working. |

I'm 98% sure I know how to remove the v6 entries, But I don't want to chance it right now with a full cache of AP tasks, and risk abandoning them all with one typo :( So I will put up with the annoying messages for now. |

I "THINK" you just remove the entire v6 section of app_info (using notepad) and that should solve it. IF YOU UNDERSTND THE FILE FORMAT. I also think there will be a new version of Lunatics to correct this very soon. |

got the same message however I do not know how to remove the bits I do not need, so can anyone help please You don't have to edit it out. It won't hurt your system in any way. If and when they make a new installer, they will remove that section. You have to be careful if you choice to do it, as any mistakes can cause problems. If you are not sure, just leave it for now. |

I removed the section last night - no more listings in the event log. Can't wait to see what the new Lunatics will contain. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

I do know what I'm doing, but just in case I did a backup before editing app_info ;) |

And disable network communications. And if youn want to be totally safe, make a backup of client_state.xml and the whole of the Seti directory. |

Can't wait to see what the new Lunatics will contain. I got somewhat distracted by TBar's 'Suddenly BOINC Decides to Abandon 71 APs...WTH?' thread - six days, 276 posts, loads of emails and PMs (and a two-year research history), and we come up with a one-clause solution. I might be able to review installer progress this afternoon, and see if my Betas are still valid, or if they've been superceded (in more than just the trivial MB 707 version number bump on Friday) since I last looked. |
