Up.... edit: 'I heard the aurora once in the early 1980s, to me it sounded like ripping cloth, or like static electricity. We were far out in the country at a ranch. I was part of the single parents club of the City of Fort Saskatchewan. We had set up a camp to run a symposium, plus let some very overworked Mums and Dads 'n Kids have a fun relaxing weekend.' |

Up.... That's what I remember from Gander - a static-electricity, crackling sound, like when you are near high-voltage transmission lines. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Heard the Lights only once, from just north of Edmonton. (Well, just north back then, probably a suburb of Edmonton today.) As others have said, it was sort of a crackling noise. Reminded me of static on the radio. Very quiet and even, then it slowly faded away. |

"Gee, do you think it looks like snow?" As long as the flakes aren't grey/black, if they are, you've got a new neighbor and a 'big' problem... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

"Gee, do you think it looks like snow?" Had that happen a few years back. You can still see areas of blackened trees. |
