I have had a mobo failure, and have lost one rig.
Sorry to all affected wingys.....I cannot recover it.
Bit the big one. Wish it had at least given me that satisfying smell of majik smoke rising to the heavens, but no such apparent failure mode.
Just gave up the ghost.

If I can come up with a replacement mobo, perhaps I can save the WUs, but I am not sure I can in time.

It's gone up to that big silicon trash heap in the sky, I'm afraid.

Sorry to hear this Kittyman, myself lost already five PSU`s I can feel with you, especially if the RAC goes down like a rock if you are on the first three places in statistics. Have seen you are on place 3, respect to hold the place over such a long period.
After more tha one year of Absence I`m now back to the Forums.

Sorry i don't have any mobo's spear i can send you mate . Are you shore it's the mobo and not the chip . I do have a couple of spear cpu's core 2 socket 775 if that helps and it's not the mobo .

Not sure of the exact cause of it's demise, but based on the mobo itself I am sure. A very old Asus P5B Deluxe.
The rig had been acting up for months already....stopped outputting any video to the GPUs, so it was flying blind for a long time as it was. But it still booted, the GPUs crunched, and it kept trouping on. It finally just got too unstable to run anymore. Would start, run a few minutes, and shut down. And of course with no video output, I could not get into the bios to adjust anything.

I cleaned the CPU cooler and the GPUs thoroughly, hoping it was an overheat situation, but it was not. Tried swapping in some different GPUs, tried a single GPU.
And as I was working on it, it got worse and worse and then stopped even booting except once in a dozen tries. I doubt it is the CPU itself, as I have NEVER lost an Intel CPU other than the ones that failed in the phase change cooling rigs due to moisture induced corrosion. Even my original core2 dual core is still crunching away.
I am also confident that it is not PSU related, first of all because it is a PC Power and Cooling Silencer, and they have been bulletproof here. And secondly, because the loss of video output happened so long ago and yet the rig remained stable and crunched on regarless for months afterward.

It was a somewhat gradual failure. No smell, no smoke. So when I tear the rig down, I doubt that I shall see any actual evidence to lead to a smoking gun as to the actual root cause.

I still have 5 other rigs running mobos of that same vintage...P5Bs, P5Ks. Including my daily driver. Some I have had to slow the CPUs down over the years, but no other serious problems yet. The P5B was introduced in early 2007, so this one did have some serious mileage on it.

Almost 24/7 for 8 years? I don't think I can be TOO angry about that.....LOL.

And I don't have the funds right now to be building a new rig from scratch...which I really SHOULD be doing to update my daily driver. So I am going to first off see if I can revive an old P5K mobo I have in my last donor parts rig. Failing that.....
Well, P5B Deluxe mobos are still on ebay from China.............................

It is always a sad day when you find one of your crunchers have died. I recently lost a good Core 2 P45 mobo. Which looks nearly impossible to replace. I'm thinking of taking the CPUs from all of my fallen systems & putting them in a collection on the wall.

Should be no problem with the GPUs....there were no signs of a short or other cat-astrophic failure that should have harmed them.
And of course I am hoping that the HD did not get corrupted as things went south on the mobo.
Have the old board out, and nothing much visible to report.
Got the donor board out of the old case, am about to try a test boot out of the case to check for signs of life there.

Given your description, it sounds very much like the slow death of my i7/930 that died last year. Every time I get enough money to replace the mobo something comes up that takes priority. Right now it's a $400 chiller for my mini reef to keep it from dying in the increasingly hot summer like weather.

I hate how other emergency priorities cut into my hobby funding! Like having to buy a new HVAC & windows recently. Then having my monitor die & desk chair break at the same time.

Fired the old P5K up flat on it's back and it beeped at me.
Tossed a fresh CR2032 backup battery in, and it beeped at me again.
Enough encouragement to at least pop it in the case and try once more.

Tigger II just came by and gave it a sniff of approval for me to proceed....LOL.
Plugged in a keyboard and mouse.....now to see if I can get into the bios.

LOL...cleaned all the kitty fur dust bunnies from the old case and the old mobo.

Now trying to work out some driver difficulties related to the mobo change.
But, it's booting with no problems and responsive.
The prognosis for the patient is good.
