Recently I've been having some problems with SETI on my Windows 7 platform. Excess time for a WU. I don't check on it daily or anything, but when I do check, if the WU has accumulated more than five time the expected time, I'll abort it, as I don't expect that anything good is happening. This didn't used to happen much but recently, a lot more. I also have seen that there's a new version out for Windows. Do I have to clear the local queue before installing it? I'm currently running BOINC 7.4.36 (x86) with Widgets 3.0.1 and SETI@home v7 7.00, if that helps. Thanks for your support. Ross |

Are you talking about Windows 8.1 or Windows 10? If 8.1 then don't update, it offers no advantages for desktop or laptop users over Windows 7 when running SETI. If 10 then wait until it is formally released in a few weeks time as the current deliverable is a Beta-test which may not have all the final features in their final forms. Either way round it is good practice to stop BOIN, SETI and any other projects you are running, back up the entire BOINC data folder to another device (usb drive or the like) before starting the update procedure. Once the update is done make sure you have the correct versions of your video drivers installed before trying to start BOINC and the projects.
