I can't do any testing. I can't see the graphics. I desperately need help so that I can assist SETI. Enjoy life, this is not a rehearsal |

According to your task list you have mostly got work for your Nvidia GTX 770 GPU. All the work finished thus far was done on that GPU. The GPU work does not have graphics, because at the time when the first CUDA applications were built, it was considered bad to run the graphics on the same device as the calculations, because both use the same hardware. This was never changed. Even while the graphics can perfectly fine work on the same hardware the calculations are done on, the present day developers have decided to not add a graphics app to the GPU application either. So the only work you can see graphics/screen saver on is CPU work. Without a clue through the messages from the event log, we can't see if that's being done or not. The graphics and/or screen saver aren't necessary to do work though. You don't have to watch the graphics to see if you see something useful. The graphics aren't a representation of the actual work done. They won't show a WoW signal if something's found. |

I can now see the graphics as a screen saver which does not give me a WOW. How does one set up the computer to get a WOW if it happens? Enjoy life, this is not a rehearsal |

A "WOW" is very unlikely to show up on your screen. SETI@Home works by comparing data from the same location over a long period of time, not looking at the data within a single very small sample such as wee are given to filter. Over time you will begin to recognise patterns of signal that may be "of interest", but don't get excited, we all get them, and many of us run with the graphical representations turned off to get better performance Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
