I will pay for a thumb drive loaded and ready to go I was running Seti gpu then Rosetta . or it can be set-up for seti only . low cash flow prevents a new drive and a XP copy |

What kind of hard drive do you need ? IDE or SATA ..........I have a few IDE drives (aka door stops) I'd be willing to send you one - SATA drive I'd have to look on Monday ....... As for WinXP - if its a Dell I can get you a (copy) Dell XP32 reinstall disk.......... |

I installed one in my old XP box. I belive it was $30. US back then. It worked for me. The geek at best buy said I was out of luck. However the guys in here steared me to that. Check it out. If you check EBay and search for "dell software cd" you will find any number of Dell OEM versions of the OS that you do not need a key for to install on a Dell PC I see a good number there starting at $8.95 (or best offer) Probably a good idea to have a install disc anyway..... I looked thru all my stuff and I must have deep-sixed all my WinXP 32 bit CDs . |

If you have M$ OS sticker with cd key on it... then just download a copy of that version of Windows, burn it on cd/dvd (I think Xp came on dvd) and when you go install it, use cd key from the sticker. |

An install of XP w/ SP3 slipstreamed in can be installed without a key & gives you 30 days to enter a key then activate it. That should get you up & going without needing to find your old OS key right away. If you don't have an install disc. Do you have the ability to download & burn a CD/DVD? Dell OEM disks have some sort of BIOS-checking tool inbuilt, which authenticates and activates Windows on Dell computers without ever needing a licence key. I've got several, but all to UK specification. Dell computers are supplied with a 'certificate of authenticity' stuck on the case, and a valid licence key is printed on that, just in case. You'll need a good magnifying glass to read the small print, though. |

I may still have some Dell XP Pro OEM CDs in the company archives, and might be able to spare one. They're most likely only SP2, but SP3 is still available for download from MS, both as an iso file and through the update site. Will check later today for the CD. As Richard said, Dell uses a VLK and checks for manufacturer signature in the BIOS, so it should activate without having to enter a key. -Werecow |

Ok...I could not find a Dell OEM install disk...... I did however find a burned copy of a Dell OEM and a burned copy of XP32 with a CD key.........pretty sure both of these disks came from a previous job and used to build software distribution test workstations. Either can be yours if you send me a private message (with an address to mail it to.....) |

It took some digging, but I also found a Dell "Reinstallation CD", XP Pro SP2. PM if you need it, and I'll get it shipped off to you. -Brian |
