I believe that most will enjoy them, the references to other writers aren't central to the stories, but rather additional humour if you do know the referred to item. Kind of like the Nero Wolfe mystery novels? The other stories he was involved in writing are grouped as well. Buy any of the later books, like Thud, Raining Steam or Going Postal, and most publishers include an extensive list of his other work, chronologically and grouped by story series(at least here in the UK, I'm not sure about those in the US and elsewhere) I know what you mean. I've seen that with many authors. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

I have never read Tolkien... I started to watch one of the movies once and it bored me to death. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

I have never read Tolkien... Read the books - the movies are skillful adaptations, but they aren't the original... . Hello, from Albany, CA!... |

I have never read Tolkien... I second that. Mr. Jackson is a great storyteller, but Tolkien was a Master... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
