Hello,

could anybody explain me what will happen in this case, please?

http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=7059568 (Sorry, I can't remember how to make this URL clickable... *doh*)

As you see, the WU (do they still call it WU on BOINC?) was supposed to be sent to 4 people, but one had a Client Error and one was Unsent, so now it's only 2 results. Does this mean it will never get validated? :/

I would suspect that they will send the WU out again to a 5th person since they are still going by the 3 person validation and issuing the average or middle credit of the 3 ...

link to wu

This wu should actually be sent to only 3 users, this is apparent from the result-id since only the 3 oldest is numbered after eachother. ;) When one user reported an error, a new "result" was generated, and is for the moment waiting to be sent out. So there's nothing wrong with the system.

Actually, by looking on when this wu was split, it's marked as only needing 2 results to pass validation, so if 1st result is returned and validated before 4th result is sent out the 4th result will change to "didn't need" and never sent out. ;)

BTW, if you looks closely on the dates & times, it takes currently 2+ days from a "result" is generated before it's normally sent out, so don't expect the 4th result to be issued to someone before 2nd January. ;) Also, normally a new "result" should have immediately been generated when the error was reported, but in this instance it took 4.5 hours meaning the Transitioners is backlogged, and this again means the Validator is also backlogged.

For making a link, change [ with "less than" and ] to >
[a href="link"]text[/a]

Make it a link using tags like this. Click "Reply to this post" and look at the tags.

EDIT: You have to watch out that the message quoting symbol doesn't mess things up, that extra > can get in the way if the tag wraps. It should be

[a href=url]text[/a] using brackets instead of the proper tag sybols - use less than and greater than symbols around the tags.

As for the WU, that fourth line is there showing its ready to get sent out again. Just when depends, the slow database server problem isn't helping. I think their priority is to send out older WU's first and yours is just a few days old.

Ah yes, that's the command. Now I remember it! :D I guess I still need some sleep. ;)

Anyway, thanks for the replies. I'm pretty new to BOINC, so I'm bound to have some n00bish questions at times. :) I was a bit afraid this WU would be wasted, or my contribution rather. Guess I will just have to be patient then and hope they will send out the WU again soon, or hope it is indeed one that only needs 2 good results.

Have a nice one. :)

I have a complete lesson on what tags are alowable and how to put them into a message. It even has samples ...
