No I wouldn't want to waste time & money on getting that "truism" tested. We drive one way, the US drives another.
To put it your way, who's to say that driving on the right is much better than driving on the left & vice versa?

Most countries drive on the right side, not on the wrong side:)
1967 we changed to drive on right side from the wrong side:)

Putin is a classic case of the exercise of power leading to corruption.
Obama, not so much.

You're quibbling or parsing.
Let's make it sound better for your end, by completely removing the UK and US (let alone that my post had nothing to do with which side the steering wheel is on or on which side of the roads we drive).

"The Libyan system of k-12 education is better than the Ethipian K-12 education system. Specifically, we do X and the result is this very great Y!" Certainly, people in Ethiopia are going to want to look closely at Libya's results and also test is on small scales in Ethiopia if it looks good to begin with, then larger and larger scales over time. Why would they just turn their entire system over to another method, just on someone's say so?

Great quotes:)
For instance:
For the powerful, crimes are those that others commit. -Noam Chomsky
Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. -Henry Kissinger

Mark Twain said this.
“Unlimited power is the ideal thing when it is in safe hands. The despotism of heaven is the one absolutely perfect government, and earthly despotism would be the absolute perfect earthly government if the conditions were the same; namely the despot the perfectest individual of the human race, and his lease of life perpetual; but as a perishable, perfect man must die and leave his despotism in the hands of an imperfect successor, an earthly despotism is not merely a bad form of government, it is the worst form that is possible.”

“Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power.” - Oscar Wilde

Interesting American history.
While debating the Power of The President, during the Constitutional Convention. Whom everyone knew would be George Washington:
They would say , because of understood Human Nature - No One should be given more than absolutely necessary power. Because it would be, of course, abused.
Very smart and intelligent people.

Yes. There are smart politicians in the World:)
Even anciant Rome knew the fact about absolute power.

Roman Republic (509 - 31 BC)
The time that begins immediately after the royal period and is characterized by the Roman state governed by the Senate. Senate consisted of a variable number senators, initially all were patricians. Two consuls to avoid too much power ended up with a single individual, who was elected in a year, served as chairman and heads of state. Over time however the people, the plebs, got more influence largely because of repeated uprisings.

As you know Julius Caesar ended that...

No, it's academia that's quibbling. You've removed the US & UK, so let's remove Libya & Ethiopa. Next question.

You are entitled to your belief. I suggest you start a thread called "I Believe Academics are Rich and Research Just Lines Their Pockets while Producing Nothing Useful." Let's see what you find out about the "truism".

There is only the one truism that is absolute: -

One is born, lives, then dies.

How many here knows what truism is? I didn't until now.

A truism is a statement that is obvious. It is common in political statements, such as "In Madagascar lives only half the population longer than the median life expectancy".

A winged truism is "the simpler the simpler" by Johan Henric Kellgren's poem "Dumboms lefverne" (A Fools Life from 1791).

Examples:
Children are our future
We will all die once
Practice makes perfect
The one who searching are looking (travesty of the biblical phrase "he who seeks finds," but this is not a truism)

Det var bättre förr. Ju förr desto bättre.
Untranslatable but very funny here when speaking of the Good Old Times.
But I try "It was better before. The more before thats even better"
