The Planet Uranus will appear very near the Moon tonight. Binoculars will be required to see it, as it is at or beyond the limit of naked-eye visibility. It will be on the outward side of the curve of the crescent Moon, by 1 to 3 Moon-diameters, depending on one's location, less to the East, more to the West, in North America. In Europe, Uranus will appear below the Moon. For a limited number of locations in the extreme Northeast of the U.S., the Moon will pass directly in front of Uranus, very early in the evening, for about an hour. The waxing crescent Moon is currently low in the West-Southwest sky, early in the evening. |
