Damn numbers get everywhere... "Who knew maths could give you such a nice way to live?" The Mathematics of Love "But the team found that the exact opposite was true. It was the couples with the low negativity threshold that had the best chance of staying together in the long run - those who weren't afraid to speak their minds." ...but I kept the best bit to last... "So communicate positively, openly and honestly" ...maybe a bridge too far where a politics board is concerned though. |

"So communicate positively, openly and honestly" That is a fantastic observation that many need to yet master. It really is a state of mind and approach... There is the aphorism about those that see a glass of drink as "half empty" as opposed to being a more positive "half full"... Is which way you see that all a question of how you are blinded by upbringing and those around you?... Another example I still have ringing in my ears as a shining example is from a certain 'burst a blood vessel' high stressed boss of mine from a while ago who screamed across the meeting and the rest of the entire floor: " DO NOT GIVE ME EXCUSES AND PROBLEMS! I WANT SOLUTIONS. " That beautifully sums up those that seem to see everything as a problem and focus only on how difficult things are as opposed to those who look to see ways around problems to enjoy making things work. Just as with IT, life is what you make it! And life is too short and too long not to enjoy it! Martin |

Yep, "just be yourself" usually is the best advice. :~) The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Yep, "just be yourself" usually is the best advice. :~) I'd prefer to rephrase that to: "just positively be yourself" :-P Also, find better viewing than the depressing TV soaps/serials of strife and personal conflicts... Are some of those serials actually teaching people to be negative and unhappy?... [Edited] I've known quite a few people like that in my time. My current workplace is quite hostile. I still haven't made up my mind if I'm going to leave or try to work toward a promotion in hopes of other teams being better. |

Unfortunately, it has been proven that the "grass is not greener on the other side", it's just as bad or worse. |

Unfortunately, it has been proven that the "grass is not greener on the other side", it's just as bad or worse. Unless you see the fertilizer (bovine manure) being applied, you are just looking at the grass with an oblique angle and it just appears greener, while it is more sparse. :) |
