This is a recipe that I've used occasionally over the years. I have absolutely no idea where I got it. Makes sense that I picked it out of the newspaper or a magazine since I cannot recall it in connection with a specific person. I do know that it was used for school lunches when there was no bread in the house. It's best warm or very fresh! More like a sweet pancake that a Yorkshire pudding. For a Yorkshire Pudding try - 140g plain flour (this is about 200ml/7fl oz) 4 eggs (200ml/7fl oz) 200ml milk sunflower oil, for cooking Heat oven to 230C/fan 210C/gas 8. Drizzle a little sunflower oil evenly into 2 x 4-hole Yorkshire pudding tins or a 12-hole non-stick muffin tin and place in the oven to heat through. To make the batter, tip 140g plain flour into a bowl and beat in four eggs until smooth. Gradually add 200ml milk and carry on beating until the mix is completely lump-free. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the batter into a jug, then remove the hot tins from the oven. Carefully and evenly pour the batter into the holes. Place the tins back in the oven and leave undisturbed for 20-25 mins until the puddings have puffed up and browned. Two important things, first the egg must be eggs, I've tried it with powdered eggs and it fails dramatically. Second, make sure the cooking tins are hot before you add the batter. (As an aside a Yorkshire man will tell you to use beef dripping, not sunflower oil, I would say its a matter of taste) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Well Gordon what I did note was another USA/UK difference for my collection :-) Self raising just doesn't sound right. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Well Gordon what I did note was another USA/UK difference for my collection :-) Self rising just doesn't sound right, unless it's said with a VERY plummy and nasal accent. Happy Crunching, Graham |

Not sure where this link should go, is it science, politics or lifestyle-food. But as it mainly concerns what you eat I'll put it here. Fat guidelines lacked any solid scientific evidence, study concludes Researchers claim dietary advice around fat consumption, followed by millions for the past 30 years, should never have been issued |

Not sure where this link should go, is it science, politics or lifestyle-food. Try all three. You'll eventually get the right one. |

Not sure where this link should go, is it science, politics or lifestyle-food. I realise you are the originator, but please read my first sentence. It basically tells you that if you do not like it here, either suggest a better place or ask the mods to send it to a more appropriate place. But as far as I am concerned a very large number of recipes require fats, either in the ingredients or used as the cooking medium, therefore IMHO "Cooking for real" involves fats. If it is put in the science board some people will not see it, and if it goes to the zoo called Politics most people avoid it like the plague, and it would never get to the attention of those who like to make their own meals. |

Then change the title, "Cooking for real" to me is cooking in the real world. If your looking for idea's then surely the title should reflect that, with idea's in the title. |
