Got a little problem here right now.

For some reason only two tasks are running, not 12.

The rest of it is Waiting to run.

Checking around and also logging off my local user account (but not restarting yet) the problem is still there.

Nothing else is running.

Time to upgrade the BOINC Manager version perhaps? Current is 7.2.28 (x64).

If so, I may lose my current tasks including also PrimeGrid and will have to start all over again.

Also the older 7.0.64 lies in another folder, but is not being used right now. Ended up clicking on the icon for it though.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Meanwhile it is more or less stuck here.

Edit: Did a restart of the computer. Also ran the CPU performance test and unticked running on batteries.

The problem is still there and I do not not why.

Also the PrimeGrid tasks are not running as well, so I may possibly have to reset both projects.

A PrimeGrid Genefer World Record task is also running PrimeGrid and do not want to lose that task.

Checking out, it is running, so it is the CPU.

I shut down the computer, including the main power switch. Still only two processors here.

Greetings,

I could be wrong, but the first thing I would check is the BIOS and make sure that Hyper Threading is enabled. I do not remember if it is default enabled or disabled.

Another thought is to check your BOINC Manager Computer preferences and make sure that Processor Usage is set to "Use at most 100% of the processors..."

Just a first thought... :)

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

Hi Siran!

I had to stop the running Genefer World Record CUDA task first.

Apparently this became a bit of a mess and needs some editing.

From your advice I changed the "On multiprocessor systems, use at most 0,00 %" which for some reason had become 25,00 % rather than 100,00 %.

It probably was the previous setting.

Also I ran the CPU performance test while some tasks were still suspended.

This apparently has solved the problem.

Just for testing, I also tried setting the "When processor use is less than x %" from 100 to 0 afterwards.

This did not affect the running and I still was back to all 12. I changed it back to 100 again and it is now running on all 12 processors again.

I do not know what is the best value here, since apparently something has changed the parameter settings without me touching anything.

For now I will leave it as it is since it is apparently running again.

Thank you very much for helping me out on this problem.

Greetings Bluestar,

Woohoo! Glad to be of help. I figured it had to be one or both of those ideas. I'm glad you're now running on all 12 cylinders! :)

There are others here that can help you tweak BOINC to get the best out of it. That stuff is above my pay grade. ;)

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

Not too far from the truth.

Better doing this stuff after the evening cup of coffee and a chocolate, but it does not always end up being so in the early afternoon.

I was happy to see this resolved as soon as it became. In this way I was able to continue what I was doing.

I have made a Notepad copy of the settings in case it should happen again.
