There are two reasons why the Show Graphics button would be grayed out: 1) The workunit is not currently running. Make sure when you select the workunit, that it is in Running status. 2) You are trying to show graphics on a workunit that is running on the GPU. SETI@home's GPU application does not have graphics, so you will not have the option to show graphics in these cases. |

If you want to see the graphics or SETI screensaver on every workunit you do, you will need to do exclusively CPU only workunits. The GPU workunits don't allow graphics because graphics and screensavers slow down the GPUs work on some cards. Also the application must be actively running, not in a waiting to run mode. The disadvantage to doing CPU only workunits is you won't complete them as fast or get as much credit for them as you will GPU workunits. Also most of the workunits released for us these days are GPU and there may not be any CPU workunits available all the time. I too like the screensaver but often don't get any CPU work units to run from SETI. |

... or get as much credit for them as you will GPU workunits. The credit for tasks done on the CPU and GPU is the same. What you may mean is that a GPU, because it can run tasks much quicker than done on a CPU, can run up the credit much faster. E.g. if a CPU takes 4 hours on a task and a GPU takes 20 minutes, the GPU can run 12 tasks in that time. If then the tasks cost 120 credits per, the CPU only racks up 120 credit, while the GPU racks up 1440 credit in that same time. |

Also most of the workunits released for us these days are GPU and there may not be any CPU workunits available all the time. There is no such thing here as "GPU workunits" and/or "CPU workunits" - all tasks can be sent to CPU or GPU (NVIDIA, ATI AMD, Intel), and to different OSes (Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Android) http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php Click in the 'Work unit' column of any of your tasks: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=7500949&offset=0&show_names=0&state=2&appid= Your NVIDIA and someone else CPU get the same task (same WU file is Downloaded by you for NVIDIA and by someone else for CPU): http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=1705859119 You probably have too much CPU work from other projects so your BOINC do not ask for CPU tasks from SETI@home If your BOINC do not ask for CPU tasks - it of course will not get any.
