I upgraded my iMac (circa 2009) to OS X10.10.1 and BOINC 7.4.36 BOINC seems to be working no problem. I upgraded my MacBook Air OS X to 10.10.1 (younger than the iMAC) and to BoincManager 7.4.36. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling on the LT. The air, which always ran without problems now sits waiting with a message "Retrieving current status" I am not sure where to look, clearly I am not a power user, but something changed during one of the installs. Any ideas from the software gurus? Many thanks if I can get this up and running again. kj |

From a search of the BOINC site it appears that the boinc manager is not able to communicate with the boinc client. Are you running any kind of anti-virus? If so, please exclude the Boinc and Boinc_mgr. If you aren't running any antivirus, have you had a recent failure or lock up or the mac? I've noticed with Boinc that it sometimes locks up the ports and other programs have problems accessing the internet. I end up having to do a permissions repair to allow access. I'm not saying that is what is occurring with your system but if there was a lock up and you had to reboot, something might have been corrupted. The last thing would be to uninstall all of BOINC and turn off the computer and allow it to sit for 10 minutes then restart so that it clears any lingering information from the memory. If none of those are options, let us know. edit.. Any reason why you upgrade to Yosemite? I did for a short time as well but it caused me to have issues with both of my MacBook Pros, I downgraded back to 10.9.5 and haven't had any problems since then. |
