Whenever I try to go the BOINC statistics for the world to check my ranking against other participants I get this: "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: str_split() in /home/setisy/public_html/stats/boinc-individual.php(1) : regexp code(1) : eval()'d code(1) : regexp code on line 1" Is it me?, or.... |

It's a problem with the BOINC Synergy page. This page is not in any way affiliated or run by BOINC. It's a third party statistics and team site. The problem also only seems to manifest itself to people running only Internet Explorer. |

I'm running I.E. 11 and that site used to work OK for me before all the kerfuffle caused by SETI running out of data... |

It isn't caused by Seti. Seti has nothing to do with the BOINC Synergy page either. That Seti went out of work and the page broke in IE is pure coincidence. That page doesn't work from any of the other BOINC projects either. Heck not even http://www.boincsynergy.com will work. The "setisy" in the path is just a directory name on the hosting server. It could as well have stopped working due one or more security updates IE has gotten in lately, or due to the hosting company changing things, or due to the page maintainer changing things. |

The most probably cause is an IE update that does not allow (malicious) code to be executed on a webpage. From the PHP documentation on 'eval': Caution The eval() language construct is very dangerous because it allows execution of arbitrary PHP code. Its use thus is discouraged. If you have carefully verified that there is no other option than to use this construct, pay special attention not to pass any user provided data into it without properly validating it beforehand. That's probably what's being blocked in IE. |
