And your knowledge of Russia seems to be zero.

No, it's your zero. Do you want to say there was no any medical station in Alakurtti? It's impossible. I was born in 1963 in the village in Kamchatka but in the maternity hospital. Of course, it was really not a big hospital, only the small separate chamber in a medical station, but it was. Other variants, not in the maternity hospitals or medical stations, was unusual in USSR, in 1950's and later.

Yes. Most of the population in Alakurtti at that time where miners and GULAG prisioners.
I repeat. Why do you think they left Russia in the first place?

Igor I hope you can see this in Khazakstan!
Live coverage from today's funeral march in memory of the murdered Putin critic Boris Nemtsov in Moscow. They are about to start now.
http://www.dn.se/nyheter/varlden/tiotusentals-redo-marschera-till-nemtsovs-minne/
Sunday's planned protest against Putin and warfare in Ukraine - where Nemtsov was one of the poster names - has suddenly been canceled. Instead, the authorities have given permission for a mourning manifestation of at most 50 000 participants.

In the district thereabouts patrol units from the feared OMON riot police in small groups and below the Vasilij Cathedral stands dozens of police vehicles ready.
About my ignorans of Russia. Please enlight me:)
We live next door to Russia. And their submarines on our door steps!

No. It must be the medical station in Alakurtti, regardless of the fact that there was GULAG or not. BTW, at least one medic was in every GULAG lager.

Sunday's planned protest against Putin and warfare in Ukraine

So what? BTW, no one of protesters tried to say "Crimea is Ukrainian". Putin or not, never mind.

P.S. Imho, if the state decided to finish the oppositionist, it would be made professionally, unlike very strange killing of Nemtsov. And this killing isn't profitable for the government of Russia.

You got that one right, Igor:)
Although we do not know who ordered the murder of Boris Nemtsov, the intention is clear: to target a devastating blow to the democratic opposition that condemns Russia's undeclared war against Ukraine!

Arkady Babtjenko (born 1977) has worked as a war reporter for Novaya Gazeta, now independent journalist.
Russia sinks into the Middle Ages.
Previously, in similar cases, I always wanted to go out, meet someone, say something, do something. Today I would like for the first time just to be alone. Do not open your mouth. Not discuss. Everything is already obvious. And really there is nothing more to do.
The country sinks into darkness. In the Middle Ages. And the way up to the light will be costly. All of this is already clear. And it is almost impossible to do anything. A slight chance still remains, but ... Yes, there is hardly anyone left who can do something. One has stabbed, one is in prison, one has been murdered....
Before in similar cases ... Brutal words. Brutala years.

Medical stations in a GULAG in the mid 50's soon after Stalins death?
Give me a break.
However miner accidents are common so they probably had a nurse there.
My girlfriends parents choosed to go to Finland instead but the baby didn't wait so the mother gave birth close to the Finnish border in a goahti.

Medic in every GULAG camp, yes, and before Stalin death it was also. I know about it from the Solzhenitsyn's books and memoirs of other ex-prisoners. You can read it.

They went home to Finland instead. Who wouldn't.
Have you been to the Murmansk Oblast? Brrr...
Well, it's not as cold as Jakutsk, Siberia:)
The only reason that the father went there was make some living.
Finland was almost destroyed during the WWII.

Today, March 2 is a historic day. For exactly 75 years ago a group of brave Swedish volunteers was killed in a Soviet ambush in the Finnish Winter War.
Torbjörn Öjstad, 24, led his patrol - and was shot dead.

One of the last surviving Swede from the war is Jan Danielsen, 97, in Örebro.
- What no one know is it was the Soviet General Vasily Margelov that killed Öjstad and his comrades, and who later was head of the entire VDV, Soviet paratroopers, between 1954 and 1979, says military historian Lars Gyllenhaal who wrote the book "Russian elite unit".

Speaking of VDV and light tanks. VDV 98th Division Exercise - Aug 2010
Here you see a light tank, a Spray-SD, falling down with a parachute and then cross the streams when shooting with the main ordnance, a 125 mm cannon:

Ongoing VDV exercise of 2,000 paratroopers near the border with Estonia.
Tvzvezda.ru has an article from February 28 entitled "Paratroopers near Pskov neutralized "diversanter and contrary" regiment against regiment". The somewhat incomplete and sloppily written article is complemented by two texts on desantura.ru headed "The Oblast Pskov begins a VDV exercise with the participation of the 2000 paratroopers and "More than a thousand paratroopers decent in the rapids of Velikaja".
The first article on desantura.ru has tass.ru source and the other has m.ria.ru, published 24 February, and 27 February.

Igor. Refute this or do as Putin who deny everything.

VICE News travels to Pskov Russia to investigate the mysterious deaths of dozens — possibly hundreds - of active-duty Russian paratroopers from 76th VDV division who are believed to have been killed in Ukraine.

I got help with the translation from Swedish press about Russian conscript Dorzji Batomkunujev from Siberia.
As recently as Monday Novaya Gazeta published a long interview with 20-year-old tank conscript Dorzji Batomkunujev from Siberia, which is badly wounded after the battle of Debaltseve for a couple of weeks ago.
Batomkunujev claims he fought in Ukraine with his unit of 300 men - with 31 tanks, nine armored personnel carriers and five trucks with ammunition. He talks about how the designations on all vehicles where painted over already at home at the base in Siberia. The public denial of Russia's war he laughs at:
- We listened to Radio Sputnik. There was some debate, are there Russian troops in Ukraine? And all the guests said "no, no" ... And there sits our company: "Yes, sure ..."
If Putin says the soldier like this:
- He is cunning. Very cunning. First: "We are submitting our troops," then we do not do it. "There are no troops there," he says. And so he sends us anyway.

Ukrainian media - "In the Debalcevo, terrorists rebuilt the railroad for 12 days." Earlier it was told about this railroad - "The whole railway junction has turned into the surface of the Moon: there everything is destroyed".

P.S. So, it's very interesting "terrorists", who build and restore. LOL

The man with such burns can't give a big interview. The man with such burns can't loudly laugh. Also, he said that he live in Mogoytuy and he have the dacha on the Baikal coast. But it is about 1000 kilometers from Mogoytuy to Baikal. So, one more fake in the information war, I think.
