I have about 4.5 year of work on WCG with 9 badges. Currently I am about 3 days short of a two year badge for AIDs. This work was done with one core of my two core processor and I would have had more if they hadn't dropped support for my system. Currently I have 1/5 of my new computer crunching for WCG and I take what ever work they send out to me. The most common work they send out is AIDs and it has been a very long running project. If we run out of work over here, they are going to get a bunch of crunching from me |

Thanks Annie and Julie! Maybe because you are a new cruncher at WCG. Grab some other WUs while you wait. I see a lot of these messages, but I'm still getting enough WUs for now... 12/17/2014 3:08:32 PM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 12/17/2014 3:08:44 PM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 12/17/2014 3:08:44 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks sent 12/17/2014 3:08:44 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Outsmart Ebola Together 12/17/2014 3:08:44 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for the applications you have selected. |

When WCG starts a new project, many of the people adjust their project load to earn a new badge. This results in the new project having a great demand on the project so you may not get the work you desire. I have several project I did work on and never earned a badge because I didn't get enough work units in the normal flow to earn a badge. That's how I ended up with almost half my work ending up on the AIDs project. Most people didn't seem to have a big interest in it as it is a long running project and it doesn't attract much interest any more. |

That's a shame Dena :( I'm happy crunching whatever they send - I would just like to be able to contribute something to the ebola work too - but it's early days so I'm sure I will get one eventually :) |

My view is even if you don't get the work you desire, by crunching everything you are keeping the servers clean so all projects can run. Indirectly you are contributing to the project. Besides that, the badges go up to 5 years so there is status in earning a badge that few people have. If you haven't found it yet, click on the header above the badges and you will see all the badges offered. |

`AFIK WCG uses BOINC; here from their own home page: BOINC is an open source grid software package. BOINC stands for Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing. It has been developed under a National Science Foundation grant. The software provides server side components that allow the management of a science project. It also includes client software that runs on a variety of platforms, including Linux. More information about BOINC may be found at http://boinc.berkeley.edu. Tullio |

But you can use the regular version with WCG. |
