My sister just rang me to tell me she droped her iphone 5 in the dunny and killed it. How hilarious is that?

Well, I dropped a cell phone in orange juice one time and it was fine, albeit a little sticky after it dried out.

It just amazes me where people drop their phones.

I'm not a phone fanatic. Mine is just a little dumb phone. I was half asleep, and just plopped it in my orange juice, lol.

I contacted my sister to let her know I'd locked myself out. When she contacted me a little while later to find out how I was getting on, I was wedged in the cat flap with my watchstrap caught on a coat hanger I'd jammed in the letterbox. She contacted me again...periodically... throughout the whole ninety minutes, just to top up on laughs. Fortunately I still had one hand free to enable her with...

The ultimate phone killer of all time I believe is my mum. Not by dropping them though... oh no... oh that she would be that merciful :)

and just plopped it in my orange juice, lol

:)))))))))))))))))))))

edit: sorry that ^ should read "lol" lol

My brother has had one of those restroom problems too. His was a dumb phone. It accidently came out of his pocket and fell into the porcelain flusher. Before he could do anything about it. The phone was gone from sight with a automatic flushing noise.

Eric worked on a satellite once that got rained on. Somebody forgot to close a dome door. Anyway, it turns out electronics can be "washed". Just don't turn them on until they are dry. The satellite worked fine once it was completely dried.

I used to work in a camera store, and we had to extricate a stuck roll of film out of customers' cameras occasionally. We did this in a bathroom with the lights off. Plop went the roll of film... Oops, no ma'am, there wasn't any film in your camera...

I washed a cell phone once by accident in the clothes washer, I'd forgotten to check all the pockets in a pair of jeans, needless to say the phone sort of worked, though it couldn't connect and the phone ate the batteries charge after 30 minutes, there was only enough time to copy the phone numbers to the PC by typing in the info I saw on the phone into the PC, I've not repeated that since then...

Absolutely nothing wrong with water and electronics, the water just has to be pure distilled or de-ionized, with no contaminates.
I used to work on 20 kW water cooled amplifiers. The supply voltage was ~35 kV.

It's the conducting contaminating dirt that does the damage.
