Mine is "Froggie". He posed on the keyboard of a computer at a camera store I worked at, circa 2003ish. An x-gf gave him to me, and we're still friends(me and Froggie, not the gf). ;~} Here's a more recent pic of him: The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Mine is a pic of a Mustang that I found on the web, due to Me being 6'1" tall and My weight, I favor coupes cause of the door size being a bit larger and I like Fords and so in Cars, Ford only makes one Coupe, yep it's the Mustang, this is a 2011-2014 model, I'd hope to own a Mustang one day, like after I'm 62... My avatar isn't in my profile, but if it were here it is enlarged: It's the cover of this album. I picked this for several reasons (aside from just liking it)... it's electronic and depicts a world dominated by computers, which pretty much happened, for us at least (one of the tracks, Computer Love, seems to predict social media and using one's computer to find partners.) And it was released in 1981 which when I started using computers and programming them at school, so is nostalgic; the computer is the old monolithic style with the integrated monochrome monitor and keyboard that I started with. |

Well... my usual avatar (which will be back in awhile - see my current avatar for explanation :) was of a cheetah my twin and I were truly fortunate to have spent part of our lives growing up with :) I know I have posted about her before - but now I am going to do so again :) We found her mother first, early one morning. She'd been shot on the edge of our property in Zambia :( ... and so our project that day switched from trying to protect a colony of termites from an attack of army ants (sorry termites :( but let's be honest - we struggled to succeed most of the times we tried and had a tendency to leg-it, squealing, at some point in the encounter) to hoping to find baby cheetah cubs. We found two cuddled together. One, a male, was already dead :( and at first we thought so was the other one. But she wasn't :) A few more hours and she would have been though. She was about ten days old I think and we were four (erm that would be years there folks... not days :)) and despite how weak and poorly she was - she hissed at us all the way home :) We named her We-wish :) (It was how we started every sentence till we were sure she would survive, and that we would be allowed to keep her.) Now my sister and I occasionally refer her to her as She-wish, I-wish or U-wish... when we're not calling her My-wish that is :))) Once we no longer lived in the midst of a vast wilderness of land (where she and we could pretend we were wild in between periods of domestication :) and where we dreamed we could teach her to hunt by running with her - if only we could sprint just a little bit faster as we dragged a teddy behind us :)) she went to a cheetah sanctuary. I loved her so much :) and it was the right thing to do - she had her first chance to be with her own kind :) all of whom had suffered similar horrible early starts to their lives. But it felt wrong for me and utterly broke my heart :/ leading to one of my more soggier patches in life. We visited her as much as we could though and she never forgot us :) and she even had a cub of her own who we continued to visit after our dear We-wish died. So that's my avatar that isn't - at the moment :) Now on to my profile :) I have no profile :/ YET... hence no profile pic to post here... but I will try to get one up soon I promise... and then I'll be back :) Really lovely thread idea! And fantastic posts! :) Thank you ALL! :) |

My profile pic needs to be updated. I dont work for that comapny anymore. THe owner sold 3/4 of his business and kept the wireless part. We moved to another location under a different name. After we moved we had 125 people and are over 400 now. The plants behind me are sunflowers that I staretd from seed. [/quote] Old James |
