To answer the original question, yes I am retired and I enjoy checking in here a few times every day to see where the conversation is heading. Regarding crunching, I have had at least one computer working the seti@home project 24/7 since 1999, with a little time off here and there during moves and such. I get SSI since I am severely disabled since 2003 and not able bodied anymore, I like PCs, so Seti helps pass the time, that and either repairing/replacing stuff(Car, House, clothes, My PC, a TV, etc, etc, etc) or watching tv or I play a game online or holding My cat Grace. In a sense I'm waiting to die and I don't have much of a life left, it's not like I had a choice either, life happens, I deplore interference in what little I have... Retired. Busy, though, but at a more leisurely pace. |

I wish. Still doing that 40 hour a week thing. Might be able to retire at 72. Or is it 90 by the time I get there. |

Im 62. I have to work untill 66 to get medicade. If my health is still good, might work until im 67. I need to fix a lot of things around the house first. I used to spend a lot more time on the boards. At the moment it seems like I have a truck load of htings to do and not enough time. Things are picking up at work and overtime is need to make orders. So I have had to cut back on my time here. But my computers are running 24/7. I just check them daily to see how they are doing. [/quote] Old James |

Semi-retired. Work 5 months a year for the USDA as a machiinery tech and supervisor. Rest of the year I live on investment income, US Navy retired pay, and a small VA disability compensation (hearing loss). Could draw reduced Social Security in two years, but will probably work until I can draw full Social Security at 66. When I'm working, I only drop by the Forums for a short time in the evening, as I have no Internet access at work, but I spend more time here in thr off-season. Not retired here, but thinking about it... I'm just amazed at the computing power some of you have contributed. I have 3 average computers on a router with a 3 Mbps download connection, and an upload connection at around .32 Mbps. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I may never be properly retired. Currently I am doing telephone support 24/7 for my old job and that mostly consist of having the support number routed to my cell phone so I can respond any where/any time. My second job is second in command land lord and second in command maintaining a trust that will run another 30 years. In addition I am a unpaid odd job person for the family. The landlord job tends to only be half a day ending around noon unless something major happens like the 4th of july. Last July we had a plumbing failure that required I stay with the plumber until noon to make sure the water was back on. |
