Have been trying bring my old computer back into use, It's an oldie, Compaq Presario 2100 1.7 GHz XP, had this running years ago. Getting an error message, Can't connect to SETI@home server, it may be down. Please try again later. For more info see http://setiathome.berkeley.edu. Server host unknown [Error-26;0] The software shows version 3.08. At the welcome screen, it's giving me two options, "First time user", or "Returning user (log in to existing account)" I've been trying the "Returning user" option, gettng the above error message each time. Do I need to use another username / email address, then merge the computers ? I do not fully understand the merge option, just guessing. Thank you for any support. |

Did you try to update BOINC? I suggest uninstalling whatever you have and get the latest BOINC. If your account is working for this forum, that means it is still valid. |

SETI@Home v3.08 is the old SETI Classic that is no longer in use. You'll need to remove it and install BOINC, then attach to SETI@home using your existing login. |

Deleted old software, the new download gives an error after looking for availble drive space, looking for drive G, which it doen't have. I did have an external drive hooked up years ago, it's on another computer now. Will try again & post the exact error message when I get a chance to try it again. Windows is currently doing an update. (I thought Microsoft wasn't supporting XP anymore.) |

There are some workrounds for the non-existent removable drive G: in trac ticket [trac]#815[/trac] - see my comment no. 6 for an example on XP. |
