Hi Folks, As a precaution against da gremlins I have a 2nd copy of my OS on a different drive to my main OS:-) This morning since copy 2 is a slimmed down one, none of the addons etc I decided to try running setiperformance on that copy. Within a few seconds Norton had removed some of the files since apparently only a few people use it and its got a bad reputation.. Go figure.. Some of the AV mob need to take a real hard look at some of the things their products do methinks. [edit] Funny thing is it doesn't do that on my main OS, or I'd be having some real problems running anon. Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

You might want to exclude boinc folders from scanning. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Hi Mike, Apparently there's no need to do that, BOINC has been running ok, for days with NIS also running. Why it goes amok on my 2nd OS I have no idea, but it doesn't on my main OS. [edit] Just checked, on my main OS I have Norton Community Watch disabled, guess I ran into problems with it in the past sometime. On my 2nd OS its a vanilla install of NIS:-/ Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |
