display driver stopped and now wu is stalled.

I think we did something to the last computer in the registry that helped this.
Some Trans something?

If TrdDelay does not work. Some have found using TrdLevel & disabling Timeout Detection & Recovery useful.

I fell asleep. Had been working on this 8 hours. I woke up and found I had to give the machine a hard boot. Then I put in BilBg's TdrDelay of 7. So now I am anxiously awaiting new results.

Thanks Hal,

Question: I had to disconnect intel's built in graphic display 4600 in order to set up my amd card. According to sapphire's directions. Can I somehow use both? Hopefully trying to improve things.

you can, but if you set your AMD GPU to more than 1 WU, the same will apply to your iGPU. It might also slow down your CPU crunching time if you're using it. If you want to give it a try, install the iGPU drivers and connect a dummy HDMI cable to your iGPU port, it doesn't have to be connected to anything else. You'll have to set it up in windows to a second screen. That's what I did as far as I remember to get it to run with my nvidia card. It wasn't worth it though, had lots of crashes and other issues.

You can use the <app_version> settings in your app_config.xml to specify different settings for each GPU vendor. Rather than just a global settings for all GPUs when using <app>.

You could also take the third route and not use the HD4600 iGPU for crunching, but use it as the monitor only. This way your GPUs are stand-alone and dedicated for exclusive crunching. This is what I did when I built my 4770K w/ 2 x 750Ti FTW, running Lunatics 0.43 with the app_config.xml configured .5 GPU & .5 CPU for all AP tasks and .33 GPU & .5 CPU for all CUDA tasks.

I don't understand why you had disconnect the HD4600 to install the AMD drivers, it just seems like another hassle running AMD with Intel and Windows.

I had that plan for my HTPC with a i5-4670, but I had issues with the iGPU scaling correctly with my 61" TV. So I ended up using the PCIe card for the TV once again. The iGPU not scaling seems like perfectly valid enough reason to upgrade to a newer flat panel right?

I'm not sure why anything would need to be done to the iGPU when installing the ATI drivers. I have not had any issues with ATI & iGPU getting along. I did find running the iGPU would nearly double the processing times on the CPU though. So not using it to crunch while also doing CPU work would probably be a good idea. At least for 100% SETI@home work. Other projects may mix with the iGPU better.

I didn't even try to use the iGPU for crunching for just that reason. Most of the time I'm running at 90% (5) cores crunching, 2 for the GPUs and 1 for the system. When I watch video or playing games I'll reduce the cores by one (80%).

I disconnected the iGPU only because of amd's install instructions. And now I'm wondering if I should have done that. Right now I only run one wu on my amd gpu so that I have unused capacity for graphics. I don't think I would really get a big improvement if I went to 2 wu's on the gpu. But I don't know that for certain. In the meantime the igpu sits idle.

Running 2 instances on your card gives approx 30%-50% improvement.

When you state that you disconnected the iGPU, does that mean it is no longer in use at all, or is it used just for the monitor as I'm using mine? If you are using it for the monitor only, I still can't see why the need for a disconnect if the AMD GPU is now a stand-alone device; since the iGPU should be ignored as configured in the cc_config.xml. Maybe one of the AMD guys can answer this question for me.

It would have been nice if you could have solved the problem with your card before introducing more variables. Now you've just made it more likely you'll receive the 30 Pulse Error. That Error is usually associated with Overheating/Overclocking, in either case running at 100% verses 80% is likely to produce more Errors, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=7413477&offset=0&show_names=0&state=3&appid=

TBar,
I took this machine that has 30 Pulse Errors, whatever that is, over to Einstein. You won't have anymore problems with it. You have come hot in my face several times now and I do not like it. I'm dumb enough without getting my nose rubbed in it all the time. A lot of people here have helped me with various problems and questions that I have had and I appreciate that. I hope I will be welcome to come back and talk to you all from time to time. I realize that sometimes I have a thin skin but that's just the way I am. Sorry for that.
PS. I didn't realize I had a 'problem' with the card until your last note.
Maybe I missed something that was said?

It has had a Problem since the First task it completed,
First task doesn't look good with those 30 pulses.

That's back in a thread you abandoned here, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=75945&postid=1590687#1590687
Other people saw it as well,
;) And when we will be near of fixing all the glitches and the experiment is almost over

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=75945&postid=1591469
CPU was running really Hot. That could explain all the problems.

We were waiting for you to come back to that thread, but you abandoned it.

As mentioned in the other thread, those 30 pulse Overflows are usually associated with Overheating or Overclocking. It could be something else, I did suggest something else;
I see you are still suffering the 30 Pulse Plague and now Driver Restarts? I would try stopping everything, reinstalling the Driver, and Rebooting the Computer. If you still have the same problems after that try removing the -oclFFT_plan 256 16 256 entry and see if that helps.

That suggestion still stands. It would appear Some Hosts may not like that setting.
All that is in the other thread. I have no idea why you abandoned it.

:) I was not referring to any problem by this

It was just funny (maybe) response to Richard's "Didn't you know - the whole of BOINC and SETI is psychological gameplay, designed by the white mice as an experiment on the human race?"

Both "white mice" and "Vogons" are from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

BilBg,
Yes I know it was humorous. I was going to make a comment on the Vogons but couldn't think of anything clever. I didn't know where they came from though.

My 280X is working fine at Einstein. I even have 2 wu's on it. It was fine here at Seti too (only 1.3% error rate) until I pushed it to 2 wu's.
