Message 1583193 - Posted: 7 Oct 2014, 22:37:19 UTC

I see that Astropulse V7 is now available. At least it is now on the list for Applications to do.
My question is What do put in as values for what apps to call in my App_info.xml
I am doing CPU AP 601 and GPU AP 604

I am using an older AMD OPT app for CPU
SSE3_CPU_AMD_r2148
and GPU is using AP6_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_NV_r2667

I am using Nvidia x64 337.88 and Boinc 7.4.22

Thanks in Advance

Michael

Do NOT process AP v7 work with AP v6 applications.

If you want to get in on AP v7 immediately, revert to stock. A Lunatics installer with AP v7 applications will be available fairly soon, though. Some time is needed to be sure about the project settings, and to be reasonably sure no typos and such creep into a new installer.

That is what I wanted to know. I'll stay with V6 for now until apps are available

You answered my question, now my problem is will I run out of v6 before Lunatics v7 is available?

I've just seen the AP v7 in seti preferences and checked it. I am on stock app, do I need to add it to my app_config.xml to start getting AP7? I've also noticed that's I've got seti enhanced on the preferences page, what's that?

For those on stock, having Astropulse v7 checked for a host's venue at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project is the only requirement to get work for that app when there's some available. Those who have never set any specific preferences should automatically get it, but BOINC assumes those who have chosen specific kinds of work only want that kind.

Additions to app_config.xml can of course be made to control how your host deals with AP v7.

SETI@home Enhanced was the application before SETI@home v7, similar processing but without the Autocorr search. Although an app needs to remain alive until all workunits for it have been completed, that preference selection is no longer needed. Presumably removing it has never risen to the top of anyone's todo list.

Thanks, I've added the below to the app_config.xml:
<app>
<name>astropulse_v7</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.33</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1.00</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

and checked AP v7 in the preferences. I assume this would be everything that I need to do?

That sounds like it is for Windows. Is there Lunatics version in the works for 32 bit Linux as well?

Beta applications suggests that there are, with GPU applications for 64-bit only.

If there are no optimized applications available at the moment, then give at least a link to download the standard distribution AP7 application(s) for the anonymous platform users to be prepared. ;)

If Mike and Arkayn could mirror the final release packages for each individual app on their sites, please, it would save me breaking away from trying to knock the whole installer into shape.

Also we should NOT use AP v7 apps to process AP v6 work?

@ Mike,

Question for you about build numbers at Lunatics.

An app_info example would be great aswell.
Or is it copy paste from a AP6 config and just changing the numbers?
If someone got a working AP7 app_info with new apps i would gladly try it aswell.

Mike's packages include an 'AIstub' file - a segment of information in app_info.xml format which can be added to an existing app_info file to add AP V7 functionality. Add as many as you wish, for CPU and/or any of the three GPU manufacturers.

No-one has tested them on the main project yet, because there's no work available - that's another reason why the installer will be slow arriving, because I need to test it with data after I've finished writing it.
