This may be a bit outside of our usual scope but: Is there a reliable/safe registry cleaner that you could/would recommend that is free or not expensive? Is it necessary at all? Thanks, I hope I'm not trying your patience with my incessant questions. |

There are many. CCleaner is a decent one. There is free one the IT people use on our machine at work which is pretty good. However I don't recall the name right now. It can't hurt to clean the gunk out of the registry every now and then. If you are not uninstalling things very often there isn't much need to use one. If your goal is faster Registry - I use (on Windows XP): NTREGOPT http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ PageDefrag http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897426.aspx  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

thanks Hal Looks like our IT staff is using CCleaner now. I guess the old software we were using Easy Cleaner was getting a bit dated. Not having been updated in about 9 years. lol SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

When I say "I use (on Windows XP)" it means "it is tested by me on XP", it does not mean "it is only for XP" http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/faq.htm  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |
