Another question while I am thinking about it! with the GPU it reports using 0.04 CPU and 0.333 GPU! is it possible to increase the CPU allocation to processing the GPU units? |

I had a feeling you were working with Lunatics :) As for the credit it has risen 200 points above yesterday, but I am wondering if I am pushing the graphics card a little hard by going with 3 wu's. Your 640 could be slightly faster running 2 instances thats correct. But your times looking good what i can see. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

With actual settings the GPU will get as much CPU resources as needed. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

So you physically cannot increase the amount of allocation? shame, it would have been good to be able to have the option! Shame that BOINC doesn't have the option to increase WU's via the menu system rather than hacking files! |

You can increase it but it wont have any effect. The GPU apps are designed to use as much CPU as they need. Dont forget the GPU`s are much faster than any CPU. Mike, Would adding a app_config.xml for the APs, help him out? Back when I started I noticed that APs require more of the AMD chip than they do from Intel. MBs were fine with what lunactics defined. Thoughts? Zalster |

Mike, No it would just increase CPU usage but not speeding up GPU processing. Comand line params are more effective for this. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Ok processing seems to have settled at around 7.8k and to be honest I thought I would have had more growth by now! Although I have nearly 80 units pending credit! |

Significant changes to hardware or software will take 6-8 weeks for RAC to fully settle down. Grant Darwin NT |

Hi Mike! Just a quick question! How do I get two GPU's to work at the same time? I have a GTX550ti and a GT640, is it possible to get the processing at the same time! |

Peter, Do you know how to create a xml file? If so then create one called cc_config.xml and place the following in it <cc_config> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> Save this into the main folder of Boinc. Then have Boinc Manager reread the config files. If you don't know how to make an xml file let us know and we can walk you thru it. Zalster |

I have never created an XML file myself Zal, but at present I have removed the GT640 to test the GTX550Ti at present I am a little low on PC memory to run both also, system slows to a crawl. but I would love to know how to do it for the future :) Thanks |

The easiest way is to find an xml that already exist in your folders. First question, are you able to see a folder call ProgramData on your Hard drive? This is sometimes hidden. If you can't see it then we need to change the settings to allow you to see it. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options. Click the View tab. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then click OK. You should now be able to see the ProgramData folder on your Hard drive. Double click and go to Boinc folder, double click again Now you will see alot of files. what we want is to pick one and using the right click button select either open with notepad or edit. Mine now always used Notepad to open these. Next you want to save this as cc_config.xml so go to the file pulldown menu and select "save as" You will see 2 areas at the bottom of the pop up. One says File name and the other Save as type. In the "File name" you are going to change the name of the file to cc_config.xml In the "Save as type" click on it and change it from Text Documents (*txt) to All files (*.*) Click Save. You have now created a xml file with the name cc_config. close all the windows. We want to make sure you don't edit the original xml that you picked. Find the newly created cc_config.xml and right click edit Now replace everything in there with the code that I gave you earlier. At this point you can just "save" instead of "save as" since the file is already formatted for xml and has the proper name. You are done and have a cc_configl.xml file. Each time you change out the GPUs make sure to do a clean install of the drivers and then restart your system. Once you restart Boinc it should read the cc_config file and use both of them Happy Crunching... Zalster |

Thanks Zalster! I am now testing this card first! seems to have a small increase on the previous card, however, we shall see over a few days of crunching :) |
