NASA scientists have been running a large number of computer simulations of exoplanet atmospheres. They conclude that the detection of any one gas is inadequate to establish that life is present on a planet. Such single gases may be produced by non-living processes. A combination of certain gases, such as oxygen and methane, will be necessary to demonstrate that extraterrestrial life has been discovered. Details are given in the article, linked below:

Read that one...but more importantly, they said that CFC would be great in detecting an alien civilization...'cause CFC don't occur naturally! ;)
