The last issue of "The Smithsonian" had the best articles of new discoveries at Stonehenge that I had seen. |

I was very interested to read about that. It corrects an article I read recently that hadn't taken into account the new discovery techniques. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Absolutely amazing. Archaeologists, Historians & various Scientists come together & give a fascinating insight into the history & culture of an historic site. Some interesting facts came to light: - Stonehenge surveyors had a grasp of geometry 2 millennia before the Greeks defined mathematics. A dry spell in June 2013 after a very wet spring highlighted parched areas of grass from which it has been concluded that Stonehenge actually was completed. Closer to the end of the 2nd episode, Willard Wigan MBE (Micro Artist) using modern technology attempted to duplicate their work with gold. His reply was that "it was a phenomenal achievement". Even better was the fact that Stonehenge had become a "central hub" for two way trade with the continental mainland. We could do with more programme content like that. For those who can access BBC's iPlayer, you should watch both episodes. |
