Sometime last year I had an issue whereby the mouse would "stick" or not move when commanded for a while, and it only happened whan the gpu was set to crunch. I turned off GPU crunching, but there was chatter on here about it at the time. Since I upgraded the PC earlier this year (but kept the ATI 6950), I restarted GPU crunching, even to the point (after installing Lunatics) to doping 2 wu's on the gpu. To be fair, I get roughly the same amount of glitching with 2 wu's as I did with 1, but I'm getting fed up of it now. Replacing the gpu isn't an option. Currently on Catalyst 13.12, later versions gave me issues so I swit6ch back. Can anyone suggest anything i can try that might relieve the problem, or am I stuck between a rock and a hard place, ie crunch & glitch, or no crunch? P. |

Are you monitoring the GPU temps? It sounds like the card was/is overheating. Also are you using any command line options in the commandline.txt file? SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Are you monitoring the GPU temps? It sounds like the card was/is overheating. Also are you using any command line options in the commandline.txt file? Temp wise, the card seems fine. and no command line options with anything. Like I said, I'm sure there was a discussion last year about this, from what I remembered only ATI cards suffered, not NVidea. But I don't think there was ever a definitive reason/solution offered. If it continues to bug me, I'll just switch to cpu only, otherwise I might do some damage to the pc <grin> thanks anyway. P. |

Do you have the same problem when running AstroPulse tasks? My series 6 cards have always suffered from the MultiBeam Screen Stutter. So, I don't run MultiBeams on them. Never had any trouble running APs. |

Never had any trouble running APs. To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference between AP & MB, it runs whatever Seti sends it ;-) But it happens a lot, usually every few minutes. P. |

Do you have the same problem when running AstroPulse tasks? My series 6 cards have always suffered from the MultiBeam Screen Stutter. So, I don't run MultiBeams on them. Never had any trouble running APs. There is an easy way to tell. Look here; Application details for host 6854740 AstroPulse v6 6.06 windows_intelx86 (opencl_ati_100) Number of tasks completed 0 Max tasks per day 32 Number of tasks today 0 Consecutive valid tasks 0 Average turnaround time 0.00 days AstroPulse v6 6.04 windows_intelx86 (opencl_ati_100) Number of tasks completed 8 Max tasks per day 295 Number of tasks today 0 Consecutive valid tasks 195 Average processing rate 678.80 GFLOPS Average turnaround time 1.18 days AstroPulse v6 6.04 windows_intelx86 (ati_opencl_100) Number of tasks completed 1 Max tasks per day 298 Number of tasks today 0 Consecutive valid tasks 198 Average processing rate 401.79 GFLOPS Average turnaround time 1.72 days It appears you haven't run very many APs on your ATI Card. None recently. Did you install the AstroPulse App when you ran the Lunatics Installer? You seem to be missing the AstroPulse v6 (anonymous platform, ATI GPU) entry. If you installed the AP App, set your preferences for AstroPulse v6 only and by tomorrow your cache should be low enough to grab a few APs. |

. Did you install the AstroPulse App when you ran the Lunatics Installer? Not sure, but |I can re-run Lunatics. Won't dsetting prefs for v6 also affect the cpu tasks as well, I thought Version 6 was now defunct, or am I getting a tad confused? (not difficult) P. |

. Did you install the AstroPulse App when you ran the Lunatics Installer? SETI@home, MB, is v7 Astropulse, AP, is v6 Disabling MB in your prefs will effect CPU & GPU. If you re-run the installer choosing only the AP app for the GPU then you can leave MB & AP set in your prefs. As the GPU will only have an AP app to use & will be download MB tasks. . Did you install the AstroPulse App when you ran the Lunatics Installer? If you want to run MultiBeam on the CPUs, just install the MB CPU App and the AP ATI App. Best to wait until you work through all those ATI MBs though. I run APs on both the CPUs & ATI cards, so, I don't have that problem. AstroPulse Version 6 will be around until it is replaced by AstroPulse Version 7. Here's my ATI machine, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=6796479 As you can see, it is happily crunching AP_v6. Even if it is down to the Horribly Blanked ones. It will be refreshed tomorrow :-) |
