The new gpu box says R7 265 but everything on the computer including event log says 7800 series. The GFLOPS are in line with what the R7 should be.

Did I get ripped off?

That's what happens when companies want to release a New card every year so their fanboys will buy the New card just so they can have the latest tech. Something like nVidia raising the clock on a 8800GTX and calling it a GTS250. The r265 is a rebranded 7850, which is an upgraded version of my 6850. It seems to be a little faster than my 6850 so...no harm.
Check it here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Volcanic_Islands_.28Rx_200.29_Series

It's pretty, isn't it :-)

Thanks TBar,
for all your help.

As long as I get the necessary gflops I'm happy.

Installing the most recent driver may change the name it is displaying. It looks like you have Cat 13.12 installed on that system.

Hal,
Would there be some necessity for me to install a different driver?

Necessary? I don't think so. I think I waited until May or June to bother installing 14.4 & before that. I think I had gone from 12.4 to 12.12
