Does seti or boinc have a twelve step program?
If you don't know what I mean, it's better that way.:-)

I am running 6 BOINC projects on 3 PCs with both Linux and Windows, so I have some BOINC experience. Most BOINC message boards are rather dull, with people only speaking in technical terms and problems. The SETI message boards are the most lively, with some posts belonging more to psychology than computer science. This is why I still run SETI@home, although the hope of getting a message is rather dim. But people cling to it despite the odds. Why?

Because some of us believe in the probability more than you can imagine, Tulio.
Not the odds of successfully proving so.

Maybe people are waiting for a message. Once messages were announced by prophets, now we are expecting them from radiotelescopes. Read "The black cloud" by Fred Hoyle, really a prophetic book.

I'd fail at the first step of admitting I have a problem :)

Just read the excerpt from Wikipedia, sounds very interesting, I'll have to get it.

No! It is a monitor addiction.

But a good one, none the less.

If Seti is an habit-forming drudge,
does this mean it is no longer fun?

Ahh, I think I see your problem Mr Sparky.

What do you recommend Doctor?

Well, you are suffering from illusions of normality. Only wear squeaky bras on a Tuesday, give up tea for coffee, and only Seti Moderate on a weekend. See me next week same time.

$75 please.

Sorted :)
