I felt nothing too, not surprising as Los Angeles and Yermo are too far away from the epicenter. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I wonder how people feel about the big quake over there, can't imagine something happening like that and yet it will, according to statistics :'( After living in Orange County CA for about 35 years, I can tell you they don't worry much about the big one. The place has faults all over the place and you are very likely to be hit with a small one. The big one would be at least 50 miles away so the distance will moderated it. You make sure your house will be safe and put in a supply of food, water and what ever else you need for a week or more without any outside assistance, and then there is no reason to worry. The biggest one I felt was the landers quake which was a 7.3 but quakes aren't the reason I left California. The best place to see the earthquakes and fault location is at this web site. |

Hmmm - an off beat thought.... Just before I went to work in LA there was a big quake Just before I visited SF there was a big quake Now, just before I head off on a trip through WA, OR & CA there's a fairly big one right alongside my planned route. Just hope I don't plan on visiting you soon ;-) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I'm rather worried about what will happen when New Madrid decides to let go. It's overdue. And most of the buildings around here aren't hardened for it. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-3.2 tremor struck 5 miles south of the city of Napa just before 2 a.m. Sunday. |

I'm rather worried about what will happen when New Madrid decides to let go. It's overdue. And most of the buildings around here aren't hardened for it. Someone I know, with a rather off-kilter sense of humour, recently noted that for all the devastation earthquakes cause, like hurricanes and tornados, they generate hundreds of shovel-ready urban renewal projects. I was at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo in 1989, and saw the results of the Loma Prieta quake up close and personal. Not something I'd wish on anyone. Where is Nova Scotia on the first map? You can see Hudson's Bay at the North end of the picture. BOINC WIKI |

Where is Nova Scotia on the first map? Actually I don't think that is Hudson Bay, it might be too early for that, Nova Scotia(where My ancestors emigrated to before being exiled to Ireland for a bit, before returning to Canada), is somewhere above the R and below that prehistoric Bay. Neat bit of reading there on the Wisconsin site. This may explain Hudson Bay better, the geology of the Canadian Shield. Plate Tectonics and Earth History, University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. Hmmm. Looks as if Antarctica is moving further south. I don't know how that would be possible without either going North in part or leaving the planet altogether... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Not posting a link, but newspapers reporting 3.0 - 3.3 magnitude quakes in the Gilroy/Hollister area over the weekend. Quakes on the Calaveras fault. Area is just east of Monterey Bay, and the same area as the 1989 Loma Prieta quake. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I will be going as The Doctor; complete with Jelly Babies, and my Sonic Screwdriver. I hope there won't be any further quakes around that time. TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9!
