It's called BAT, Buoyant Airborne Turbine and is being tested in Alaska to provide power for remote communities. Pretty cool and completely green, at least in use. http://www.altaerosenergies.com/bat.html Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. Good idea Bob just so long as they don't put 1 near me it will block my million dollar view of the mountains and beaches . This thing with a 600 meter altitude will block your view? A second question I would ask what is the cheaper power it promises is worth what to you? |

Remember the design is essentially to bring power to remote communities where more standard means of generating power are not practical. But I can see where it would work wherever the wind is right. This thing with a 600 meter altitude will block your view? yep strip of land where i live is only 4 klm wide from ocean to mountains at it's widest for the northern subs where i live so a great big ballon will block my view as i'm 38 meters above sea level on the 3rd floor ( penthouse ) hehehehehe So great big balloons will block my view even at 600 meters or at least spoil it otherwise Bob great idea for remote places |

The prototype is being readied for startup early in 2015 in Alaska at the village of Makani near Fairbanks and it says the ground station for this turbine is mobile.
