I have no way of telling if it is running.
Every time I move the cursor over the icon it disapears and when I go into programs and restart it is there again. It will not let me click on it it just disapears.
What could be the problem?
I did add more ram this morning but was fine after that.

Do you get any error messages? What's the OS, Boinc Version (4.13, etc)? I've recently experienced a similar problem. See thread "HELP???? Win 98 problem, not boinc problem".

Hit "Ctrl" "Alt" "del" once and see how many versions of boinc are running.

OK looks like version 4.13 Win 2k pro service pack 4
Dual Xeon 550 1.5 gig ram on a Intel C440GX+ mobo
Got no errors showing no processor activity even with Icon showing
Dont have keyboard so "Ctrl" "Alt" "del" wont work.
Checked activity with PC Wizard 2004
should I uninstall/Install?

Scott, I been advised that trying to run more than application of boinc can cause this type of thing. Do you have a mouse? if so point at open spot on the toolbar (bottom of screen, maybe), right click, select "Task Manager", then select "Application" page and it will show which applications are running. Then you can click on the "Processes" page and also look there.

You can also click "Start" "Run" type in "MSCONFIG" (without the quotation marks). then select "Startup" and look to see if "Boinc" is listed more than once.

Ok with Icon in lower right corner showing
In task manager/Applications nothing at all
In processes no SETI or BIONC showing at all just the normal windows things.
But it still disapears when I move the mouse over it

Hmmmm....Thinking. I hope someone else has an Idea. It isn't running any seti apps. Can you try to start boinc from "Start" "Programs" "Boinc", "Boinc"?

Yes but all it does is give me a icon program does not start.
I even removed the memory I installed this morning and rebooted but makes no difference.

Did Boinc Start when manually ordering it to run? "Start" "Programs" "boinc" "boinc? I guess I didn't understand. when task manager didn't see any boinc programs running, I was curious to see if it could be made to run.

Additionally, I was curious to see if "MSCONFIG" was commanding it to start upon reboot.

My purple circled B also disappeared when I place my cursor over it. Did you look at the other thread I started?

With a text editor, open the stdout.txt in the Boinc directory and check to see what steps of its startup are listed. You can also check the stderr.txt file for any possible error messages.

don't worry about it, I got my problem after hard drive failure, and full system recovery. Lost those WU's, then I got a similar problem to yours and ended up trashing more with a uninstall/reinstall. lol
