A couple of weeks ago, I had to reload the OS on my PC (Windows 7 Pro 64-bit). Since reloading BOINC and Seti@Home, I haven't seen any new tasks downloaded. The task screen sits at: Download: retry in 05:23:00 (project backoff:00:04:40) The numbers of course vary. I looked at the event log file and see an error about creating setiathome_7.00_windows_intelx86_cuda42.exe Didn't see any similar problems. Any thoughts on this? I didn't make any changes to the setup when I installed the software. Not sure what version I was running prior to my reload, but that ran fine. There were no hardware changes made during the reload.  If some .exe file can't be created the first suspicion is the Antivirus So check the Antivirus logs/quarantine Which is the Antivirus product? If Antivirus is the culprit you may want to: - report to them a 'False Positive'   This is list with links for many Antivirus vendors: http://web.archive.org/web/20140630223530/http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-report-malware-or-false-positives-multiple-antivirus-vendors.htm - and/or: http://boincwiki.mundayweb.com/index.php?title=Add_the_BOINC_Data_directory_to_the_exclusions_of_my_antivirus_program You can manually get the files from these links: http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome_7.00_windows_intelx86__cuda32.exe http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome_7.00_windows_intelx86__cuda42.exe http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome_7.00_windows_intelx86__cuda50.exe   - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

Thanks for the input. I did remove and reload Seti@Home. There was no change, still wouldn't download. I did check my antivirus (AVG Business Edition) and added the BOINC folders to the exception list. It still would not download. I then tried to download the cuda_42 file manually into the C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder and received a security error that I didn't have authority to the folder. Ended up having to turn off UAC to get it to work. I'm not sure I'm totally happy with that solution, and I've never had to do that before. Kelley |

Strange Did you try to re-install BOINC? (this will NOT affect tasks/settings) This have to repair permissions. Also see here (just a few threads next to yours): 'Unable to run BOINC as standard user' http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=75200 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Sorry, I meant to say that I unloaded and reinstalled BOINC. That didn't make any difference. I'll check out the link you provided. Thanks. |

As suggested in the link, I loaded version 7.4.8 6-bit. When I turn on UAC, I continue to receive these messages in the log, turning off UAC seems to be the only way to get things to work: 7/24/2014 8:09:16 AM | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe 7/24/2014 8:09:16 AM | SETI@home | Backing off 00:03:39 on download of setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe 7/24/2014 8:09:37 AM | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe 7/24/2014 8:09:37 AM | SETI@home | Backing off 00:04:46 on download of setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe 7/24/2014 8:14:24 AM | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe 7/24/2014 8:14:24 AM | SETI@home | Backing off 00:10:11 on download of setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe 7/24/2014 8:16:20 AM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. 7/24/2014 8:16:20 AM | SETI@home | Reporting 2 completed tasks 7/24/2014 8:16:20 AM | SETI@home | Not requesting tasks: some download is stalled 7/24/2014 8:16:22 AM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed |
