This thread is dedicated to our good friend Monday, who has been very open about his current health situation in his "Big Sook" thread. In light of the challenges facing our friend, I have started a thread for any of us who would like to slim down, eat better or just improve a health habit or two. This is a place to post health goals and the progress you achieve in attaining them. It is also a place to gripe, a place to commiserate, a place to celebrate one another's successes and a place to be supportive of one another. In the interest of public humiliation, I will start... Hello. My name is Crazy Raccoon Lady and much like a raccoon, I absolutely LOVE food!!! I am a very accomplished home cook and my favorite hobby is baking desserts. I cook and bake like a maniac so that food and I can be together. I weigh 30 pounds more than I should. I pledge to weigh myself every Monday morning and post my weight here in this thread. Hopefully this bit of public accountability will inspire me to eat less and move more. |

Well then have I got a recipe for you Angela, it's in the Raccoon thread. Me I'm about 385lbs currently, I'd started out at 430lbs back on August 6th 2013, I'm trying to get down to a bit less than 350lbs, beyond that weight I can't say. There is no gym nearby in Barstow and My joints don't like a whole lot of abuse, as too much movement and they get painful, sometimes I'll get pains merely from standing w/o any movement hardly. It is also a place to gripe, a place to commiserate, a place to celebrate one another's successes and a place to be supportive of one another. This is plainly unfair! My current weight is 114 pounds. Just how does one go about putting the damned thing on? On a more positive note... :-) Good luck Monday. |

Scott and Vic, those are both really significant weight drops. Wow!!! Congratulations!!! Chris and Sirius, I just so happen to be an expert in GAINING weight. I've done it all my life! Start by cooking tasty foods with lots of butter and then have seconds. For those of us with more er... uh... "efficient" bodies, seconds are out :( I'm going to go eat a sensible breakfast now. Sensible... yuck! |

Do all that. The amount of times that people were amazed & told me that I could have tapeworm sometimes put me off my food (but not for long). I've stopped worrying about it but did feel the lack of weight recently. Doing deliveries that used to be no problem now took longer as I'm getting a lot older & unable to lift weight as I used to. 25/30kg never used to be a problem, now I often feel that I need a personal fork lift :-( Edit: My BMI should be 18.5 to 24.9 for my build... ...it is 16.4 well underweight. |

A couple of times, I've lost 50-ish pounds and then put it back on again. Part of my reason for starting to work at the museum is that I hope the physical activity will help me lost some. And the diner isn't open on weekdays, so I have to bring my own lunch. I'm planning to keep that light. Don't know how well I'll stick to that. The same reasoning, plus not having the money to burn, is keeping me from hiring someone to mow my lawn for me. I suppose I should check my weight so I'll know if it's working. Right now, my bottle of rum is sitting on the scale. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

My BMI is right where it should be:) Maybe a little on the low side at times... I used to go swim 50 tracks, twice a week. I don't do that anymore, don't have time for it. Only in the weekend when we go swim I do around 20 tracks. The kids don't give me more time. Talking about the kids! The energy I need for them as a single mum keeps my weight where it should be I say! rOZZ Music Pictures |

No problem, I've always burned the calories off faster than I put them on :-) |

This is a great idea. I hope everyone does well. 3rd shift, lack of/poor sleep, little exercise, and fast food are my problems. My pants are a 36 inch waist, but I was a 28 in high school. I would like to go down to a 34 inch waist, and feel better overall. Regular walking everyday helps the body and mind, it really does. I've just been run down ever since my mother hurt her back, got pneumonia, and went into the hospital, and I tend to eat yummy stuff to boost my mood. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

This certainly is a good idea. Thank you Angela. I've never had diet buddies before. It's Saturday morning here and I've eaten my way through the initial shock last night and it's time to head in a new direction. Monday the fruit bat Weighs in at 96.5 kg (212.75 US pounds). LET THE DIETING BEGIN... edit. Nearly lunch time, hmmm. |

I was amazed on how many times I ate out in the UK and my clothes still fit. Currently a size 33 in Levi's, 11 in other stuff and a size 10. tight but douable in in a dress. 10 Kilos would make me a Bean Pole. I will take five for a start. Pluto will always be a planet to me. I stand 6'1", weigh 240 lbs as of Friday morning, and have a 40' waist and an 18" neck. I've been about this size since I got a growth spurt in the winter of 1974, during my Submarine/Nuclear Propulsion training. I was 5'10", about 180, and 34" waist when I got to Idaho, and 6'1"/220lbs/38" when I left 6 months later. My doctor says I should be about 190-200 lbs, but that my cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels are in the normal range. I eat sensibly, but do like to eat meat and pasta. The only thing that varies much between when I am working and not is my activity level - When not working, I spend too much time in my computer chair, and during the 100F days of summer, that is too easy to do. So my plan is to do yardwork and outdoor projects in the cooler parts of the day, then move inside during the heat, but still stay active and not sit too long. And if I ever get my swimming pool functional again, I'll be swimming laps in the evening. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

You have to feel good the way you are Monday, but health is very important so a balanced diet would do the trick for you I hope. It's just horrible how society looks upon 'the looks'. I say this because I used to have anorexia when I was 14 to 16 years old. It got so bad I ended up in clinic with a weight of 38kg. I could only be fed intraveneus anymore. This should actually be in the PTSD thread but I just want to advice you that you will be you, no matter how much you weigh or how you look (or could also be just some advice for myself... hm) [edit] My oldest daughter thinks I'm 'fat', people who saw me will frown now. That's what I mean with Society's indoctrination... [edit2] She thinks Yoko is fat too, she's really harsh and then I have the BF who's skin and bones together with Lisa, they make a fine pair...they made me cry yesterday... rOZZ Music Pictures |

The fashion industry has a lot to answer for. +100! Just look at what that Miley Cyrus girl has done to herself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My2FRPA3Gf8 She used to be that sweet girl in that TV show Hannah Montana, and THAT's Lisa's big example!!!! rOZZ Music Pictures |
