I've been running SETI@HOME for over 15 years but was away for a few months. Now that I have reinstalled it, it refuses to request new tasks. It says:

6/5/2014 10:56:50 AM | SETI@home | update requested by user
6/5/2014 10:56:54 AM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
6/5/2014 10:56:54 AM | SETI@home | Not requesting tasks: don't need
6/5/2014 10:56:57 AM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed

Why does it say I don't need any when I don't have any and haven't for months?

Both your computers have reasonable amounts of work on them, along with results pending validation, so relax and let them crunch away.

Because many people only run part time, BOINC remembers a fraction of time you have spent with BOINC running recently. This value drops to 0 after you have had BOINC off for a couple of months, and the client will severely limit how much work is on the computer - because it believes you will only allow a very small amount of computer time to it. This time is shared between projects, so if you are attached to more than one project, you are likely to only get one task / CPU from a single project to start with. After a while the client will register that you have more computer time available, and will adjust its requests accordingly.
