I am looking to buy an Ultrabook and a Chromebook for SETI@Home. I prefer no noise and no heat from the computer. I intend to to let the computer stay online for 24 hours a day at 5 days per week.

Can you tell me based on your benchmarking experience the ideal computers from 2014 for SETI@Home?

If possible please post a graph for comparison.

I prefer no noise and no heat from the computer.

Then --whatever you choose in the end-- do not run Seti on it, as Seti will use the CPU cores to their maximum, plus any GPU it recognizes. Meaning heat, heat, heat. Which in the case of a notebook means noise, noise, noise from the fans.

In that case run BOINC on it with any of the non-CPU intensive projects, such as Quake Catcher Network.
